Your CFI also gave you the checkride?
also how long did it take you

Nope, but the examiner is located on the other side of the airport. Took me 5.2 hours before the ride ... although they said that is a-typical, and that I demonstrated I'm of a higher pilot ability :)

Great share! When you get a chance please post the contact name and number for the CFI providing this service.

PM me for it.

Wonder if either place (Air-cam and Widgeon) do group discounts.

Get a couple of JCers together and go down there for a couple of days...

I don't know. It took my almost 6 months to finally get this training done. He's a busy guy with ferrying aircams, and other general CFI stuff. It seemed more of like a single student at a time operation. Worth a try I guess.

Question for the guru's...

If a pilot holds a Multi ATP and they get a seaplane rating, is it automatically ATP MEL MES?

Furthermore, if you are only a commercial pilot and you get the rating and later take the ATP checkride, do you have to take a separate checkride for MEL and MES?

Bringing this back from the dead....

Not sure if you already received an answer to your question or not, so here it is. Multi Engine Sea is a different rating than Multi Engine Land, same for Single Engine Sea versus Single Engine Land. You could be ATP MEL, Commerical MES, Private SES & SEL. Etc... Different classes and different levels of privileges for each. To have ATP in each class, must take the checkride in an appropriately equipped aircraft and fly the PTS. Four approaches, holds, applicable air work and landings (or water work).

I just did this earlier this year and went from commercial SEL & MEL with out any seaplane ratings to ATP SEL SES MEL MES. Technically it's four checkrides, four different 8710's. There should be some posts I made earlier discussing it. It was blast and definitely the non-traditional route to ATPs. PM me if you have any questions.
