Right there with you!:rawk:

Maybe I can think about doing something like Adler is doing next summer or fall...

What's Adler? I haven't heard of it... Heck, I was just hoping to get my ASES this summer! Jack Brown was bringing a few planes and instructors through the area, but the cash flow wasn't exactly in my favor this year. Oh well, maybe next year!

Oh man, reading comprehension fail twice! I didn't notice the "is doing" part and first thought Adler was a place or school... then I thought... well you can guess what I thought when you said Adler was a who... :o

The air cam is quite the short field performer even on floats. At the seaplane fly-in in Greenville last summer there was one there, and it was a dead heat between that and a turbine maule for the short take-off competition. Both were practically instantly in the air.

After an hour of some amazingly glassy water landings this morning, the instructor had me taxi off the runway the opposite of the way we normally do, "lets go take your checkride". So now I'm Commercial AMEL AMES ASES Instrument. Then we flew for lunch back the the country club, and I got a rear seat checkout. We got back, and took out the guys aircam on wheels, and got my my tailwheel endorsement. Pretty awesome day!

Gotta keep this short cause I'm hoping to catch the shuttle launch on my 20 hour drive home!

Great share! When you get a chance please post the contact name and number for the CFI providing this service.

:yeahthat:
And while you're at it you should set up a referral fee for yourself with this guy because I think he's about to have some business courtesy of you......

Congrats! :clap::clap:

As far as I know, there is a guy in Daytona Beach who does multi-sea training in a G44A Widgeon. I'd love to do it someday, but first, I've got a bunch of other stuff I've got to get done.

http://www.h2oflight.com/ is the website for that Widgeon.
Yeah, for $2,000 more you can do the Widgeon. Not knocking it if you can afford it, but personally I'd rather do the AirCam for the fun factor and the fact that the rating will have little use to me other than making my resume look slightly cooler. Heck, if I could find one with the right avionics in it why not just get the ATP done in it as well?

Very true. Either way, its a rating that is very hard to put to use. I'm not sure I like the idea of having an IFR approved open cockpit airplane. That might be a rush.

But approaches aren't a lot different in a seaplane. When I did my private SES, I was in the middle of working on my instrument. So, on the way back, in the Husky Amphib, we decided we would try out the 430W onboard. Fun stuff.

Question for the guru's...

If a pilot holds a Multi ATP and they get a seaplane rating, is it automatically ATP MEL MES?

Furthermore, if you are only a commercial pilot and you get the rating and later take the ATP checkride, do you have to take a separate checkride for MEL and MES?

Wonder if either place (Air-cam and Widgeon) do group discounts.

Get a couple of JCers together and go down there for a couple of days...

Better yet, JC needs to band together to buy a Goose! C'mon it's close to a perfect plane... radials, taildragger, amphib, multi! Paint it up with a big mugshot of Dough on the side and fly it all over!
