I'm also worried about the sim ride. All the IFR training i have done is in a G1000. I have zero steam gauge IFR experience. I have been practicing in our sim (g1000 Barron) with the MFD turned off. Does any one have any advice for flying an AST-300?-Matt
No shot towards you but this is exactly my argument with training and glass cockpit stuff. TAA flying is fine once you get some steam gauge experience, but no matter where you go, chances are that your first flying job isn't going to be flying something that is brand new with a G1000. Quite the opposite.
If you can find a local flight school that has a desktop sim, like an Igate or something similar, it'll help. I used the Elite Igate at the school I instruct at before my most recent interview and it helped out immensely.
