My CFI is a sex offender

So.. if homeboy CFI is actually a kiddy diddler would that exclude him from eligibility for an ATP per 61.153 (c)? Or is he going to be my sim partner one day?

Well... is he a kiddie diddler? Or was he 17 yr old senior dating a 15 yr old sophomore and the parents disapproved. Or was he swimming naked in his own pool, in his backyard. Built a higher stone wall border around his property for privacy. But the brat next door climbed the tree and watched dude swim naked and later told his parents. (True story).

In any event, once placed on the registry your life is basically over. You're basically not employable by any reputable jobs that pay a good salary. So no, doubtful that he'd be at Widget Co.

Perhaps I'm naive on this topic, but doesn't there have to be something sexual to be a sexual offender? How exactly is swimming in your own pool naked get you on the list? Then again, I live in FL so who knows? I'd hate to think that simple things like that ruin people's lives.

The way it was explained to me is that if someone sees your genitals and doesn't like it, it is offensive and involves sexual organs.

The thought is children should be sheltered from adult nudity. No matter commonsense. So as others have mentioned, people have gotten on the registry for public urination. Because it was considered public nudity, and in essence they exposed themselves. Also people have been put on the registry for being naked in their own house/apartment without the blinds being closed, or not fully closed. And someone made a compliant.

When I used the website you could click on the persons name and see what they were charged for. I'm not sure if that's how it still is today. Again, how did this even come up in your flight training? Does this guy like background check anyone he interacts with?

Sadly yes, you can be an Airline Pilot and a potential kiddy diddler, a fellow CFI at my flight school when I was Instructing there, was busted in a local "to catch a predator" net. He was arrested when he showed up at what he thought was a 12 year old girl's house. This guy was in his late 20's, married with a daughter, and his father was a United Captain who had bought him a 172 and a Dutchess to get his time in (then later sell) he also "rented" a rental home to him for nothing. That Creeper had it made in the shade. I'll bet you 5 dollars he's even at United now.

Most of those To Catch A Predator stings, get pleaded down. So he probably didn't get on the registry, maybe in part to daddies money. Meaning he can still have a good quality of life.

You mean the guy who was landscaping his own (big) backyard and had to pee, decided he was fine behind a privacy fence until the cops showed up cause little neighbor boy happened to peek through at the wrong time?

I don't know if I've said it previously but this is exactly what happened to a guy in my mom's neighborhood. Mowing the lawn, taking a pee and one of the neighbors was peeking over the fence line and called the police and "Welcome to the Registry!"

Savages.....
How am I supposed to kill off the weeds then?

Irrelevant. How I feel about people who molest kids, or rape people has no impact on how I feel about a list that essentially public shaming.

This doesn't even account for people who are on the damn thing that are anything but sex offenders. See, the public pissers, or a 19 year old sleeping with his 17 year old girlfriend, or a drunk guy who went streaking, or those few who are falsely accused.

I think it's fair to despise the people who commit these acts, but also despise a unique legal system that keeps them from ever being able to redeem themselves.
