but it never fails to irritate me that they redact the swastika on reproductions (even in games, I think).

In Germany it is actually illegal for aircraft to have the Swastika on them.

I went to the Technik Museum in Munchen last fall, and on the genuine wartime Bf-109 and Me-262 that were displayed in there, the swastikas were conspicuously missing from the tails.

Overall, I hate that history is being whitewashed like that, but that is the reason the FlugWerk aircraft (and others in Germany) don't have accurate markings.
