If I had gotten the job at Colgan when I interviewed, I'd be a Q captain right now.
If I had stayed at Amflight, well I probably would have fallen asleep and crashed into a mountain, so that's not a very good outcome.
If I had gone to ExpressJet when they called the FIRST time (day after my captain ride at Amflight) I'd still be holding a line as an FO at Express. Maybe I woulda been smart enough to bail to Compass and upgraded in class.
If I had gone to Comair (interview offer came the same day as Express) I'd be getting furloughed after 3 years.
If I had gone to Eagle, I'd very obviously still have a job.
If I had gone to Mesaba I'd be a captain, have my 1,000 TPIC and be moving back into the right seat of the jet with an easy schedule.
If I had gone to 9E, I'd hate my life and want to die.
Now with all of that being noted in the last few years, I can tell you that 3 years ago I'd tell myself that I was crazy for writing that, because I thought Mesaba would for sure furlough soon, Eagle would implode, 9E would continue to have a quick upgrade and Colgan would NEVER get Q's.
Never say never, I guess.
