More Eagle Displacements

Haha.. not exactly what I was getting at..

I fly a Pitts and a Vans... someday I will own a P-51 when this career rebounds.. yeah right lol.. at least I know someone who does own one so I can sit in it and pretend it's mine..

I like the CRJ due to the DECREASED workload. The CRJ used to have longer average stage lengths (DFW-SBA, DFW-ROC, DFW-MYNN) thus fewer legs. Most four day trips were 3-2-2-3. Not that way anymore. The CRJ is the lazy mans plane.

Dude the ERJ is the lazy mans airplane! FADEC, a decent autopilot, almost fully automated systems, yada yada. Hell I think the only thing in the ERJ cockpit that's DIRECTLY connected to anything is the parking brake.

gotcha..

the EMJ has some 3-2-2-3's but they go fairly senior usually

Well, to add fuel to the rumor fire - I, too, heard rumors that the DFW CRJ lines were going down to 24-25 next month, however....... one of our FO's is married to a dispatcher who said he didn't think that would happen. (who knows?).

Second - when I was in recurrent in January, most of the guys in my class were ORD based. ALL of them said that they have been hearing that the majority of the CRJ's that were sent to ORD will be returning to DFW by late Spring.

Take that for what it's worth. Completely word-of-mouth.

I'm sticking to the "I'll believe it when I see it" mantra. Works for me.

So the displacement bid was canceled...

Looks like I'm not heading back to SJU after all but the rumor going around is that the bid was CX'd because they're gearing up for furloughs with the schedule reductions.
This, this would be bad.

I hope that rumor is wrong!

I hope that CRJs are coming back to DFW and the AA's schedule reductions have little effect on Eagle. Looking at the traffic in FEB 2009 total number of passengers was down 14% while load factor was only down 3%. This reflects the reductions already done were just about right in line with what is too be expected.

Maybe AMR wants more CRJs in DFW to help cover unprofitable MD80 routes. I know the DFW-ORF turn is coming back in June.

As for the 'F' word. Eh.

Last I heard, there are still many people who have request for the Long Term LOA pending, and what about the hiring in June rumor? I do not understand the rumor of a future furlough coming when there are still people who are volunteering to go.

ehh.. this can't be good.

Sure would be nice if they would TELL us whats going on.. they obviously know something

Well, not sure if this is realted to the furlough rumors, but:

American to lay off 323 flight attendants, union saysUpdated 50m ago | Comments 3 | Recommend

FORT WORTH (AP) — American Airlines, struggling with a slump in travel, will lay off 323 flight attendants on April 1, the company said Wednesday.
The furloughs — layoffs with recall rights — affect some workers who were only recently recalled by the nation's second-largest airline operator after previous layoffs.
The number of furloughs might have been higher but for some employees taking leaves of absence or sharing jobs, the Association of Professional Flight Attendants said in a message to its members Tuesday. The union said last month that 410 employees were subject to furlough.
Scott Sayres, a spokesman for American Airlines, said the company and union worked hard to provide voluntary alternatives to layoffs, "allowing us to save dozens of jobs."
"However, we are sorry to announce that we're still faced with the tough situation of furloughing 323 flight attendants," Sayres said. He said the 323 would be offered free-travel benefits, but those accepting the perk would lose their recall rights.
American Airlines executives plan to cut the carrier's U.S. capacity 9% this year, but February traffic tumbled 13.5% from a year earlier. This week, Chief Financial Officer Thomas Horton said the Fort Worth-based airline is ready to cut more flights if the slump continues.
Fewer flights mean less need for flight attendants and other employees.
Shares of AMR rose 12 cents, or 3.8%, to $3.25. The stock is down nearly 70% since the start of the year.

Those AA flight attendant furloughs were announced months ago. At the time of the initial announcement the number was 400.

Some good news today was the number of hard lines for DFW CRJ are roughly the same as this month. One new thing is LBB and AMA overnights. These were previously ATR's for the last few months.

EXCELLENT! I was hoping that our FO's news (that there wold be roughly the same amount of lines) was true!

LBB and AMA overnights SUCK! :D

So if you guys get displaced, what kind of compensation/moving expenses do they offer?

I flew with one captain there on the ATR who had, in the previous 8 months, gotten typed on both the Saab and ATR after getting 3 displacements (starting from the ERJ). Sucked for him, but at Skywest 3 involuntary displacements would have been a *huge* check...I think it's almost 56 hrs of pay when you get displaced.

This statement has one glaring deficiency-

San Juan's in Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico's a U.S. Territory.

Nobody has yet to be kicked from the country.

You, however, have failed geography AND political science. :p
Actually, it is an US Commonwealth (eh, no not like the state of Virginia) like the Northern Marianas. There is a subtle difference, between a CW and a "territory" like Guam or the Virgin Islands.
