More Airbus A321s for Delta

How ya liking the "CB" radio on the west airplanes?

We had the same mikes on the ERJ. They never worked there, either. When the Captains ask what they're for, I tell them it's a fun to play the Guard game. You switch to Guard, hit the touch tones and see how long it takes Delta to yell at you. :D

Can't wait to take them into CLT. It'll be fitting to give Ramp a "Big 10-4" after I get the "Take it on around the B Con in sequence…2 point 8."

Like didn't Delta just retire DC-9s..........................................I go for cheep and paid for!!!

The old NWA DC-9-50s? Most of them, if not all the fleet, are sitting just up across the highway from me here at MZJ

Has that disaster improved in the last year at all?

No. Still a mess, still a back up at "The Line". Hit it at the wrong time and you're holding short on Mike or Romeo or you're stuck 8 deep on Echo short of E14. Maybe when the City of Charlotte does improvements on the airport, they can figure out how to make the North Connector bi-directional. And of course, why should the inbounds and outbounds know what each other are doing?

Sounds fun. I don't miss that. Out here we have Ramp "Advisory" who is, strictly advisory in nature. Makes for some amusing times, but most people are patient (it's Hawaii, brah!) and just wait for people to do their thing.

Not an IAE A1. We have V2500-A1s and -A5s on the West airplanes and CFM-56s on the East. I had an A1 the other night in PHX and it motored for 55 seconds before fuel was introduced. I have never seen that before, even with the slow start of IAEs.

I do believe it will get anti-single-engine taxi guys to conform, if for no other reason than we need to get out of the way.

This r Delta thred. We has CFM.

Not those girly little fans on the V2500. :)

We had the "batphone" at Pinnacle. Worked good at the 3 hubs. breaker breaker...

The delta guard nazi assumption always cracks me up. I'm flying this trip with the first guy Ive seen in many years that actually will say something on guard... and he's a former northwest guy.

I've come to realize it's very likely regional guys going after each other calling each other delta!

I'm used to CFMs, too. The IAEs are much quieter, though.

I think all of AAs planes have it, too. I'm sure that's something that will be assimilated shortly. They can only spring so much on us at one time (like how the First Officer WILL calculate the holding fuel and advise The Captain every 15 minutes.)[/quote]

You're more than likely right. However, there are some guys that get WAAAAAAAAAY bent out of shape on the frequency.

I don't want quieter if there is less buzz saw!

I just heard about the 15 minutes thing today from a jumpseater. Hilarious!

And yeah... people get tiiicked on guard! I've never seen anyone jump in like my ca did today, and he got several "douchebag" chime ins in response to him trying to keep a gulfstream from getting punked. Having sat in DL cockpits on 4 fleets, I'm certain it's mostly regional guys going at each others throats. Though now I've finally flown with the guy that chimes in. 1 out of 12,000. :)

Stop stop stop. All of the 'baggery occurring on guard is us. I read it on the internet so it must be true.

And all of the wind checks too. Even though I've only been asked to get one once in the last almost two decades, it has been deemed an universal truism that is it us.

And we can't fly in the mountains either because we're SKURRRD. :)

"Howdy Gang! Just finished up recurrent training down at the school house in ATL. Sim went great. It was educational too discus our new "Threat and error management and tactical briefing", new in our SOP here at Delta. I believe it's a industry leading move in Safety. First Officer Rick Wellington had to receive remedial training after failing to set 121.5 on standby. After sim we enjoyed an ice cold Michelob Ultra. We joked that Rick earned himself the call sign "hot stick" a USAF term for a pilot that needs remedial training. Looking forward to 2 weeks off and meeting Beverly and the kids at the palm springs vacation condo. Have a great weekend!"

I use wind checks at my present employer to embarass the pilot flying - or if American or SouthernJets happen to be on final in front of us, of course.

They should have just redesigned the wing on the 321 NEO. Like Boeing did with the 737NG.

I have heard that the NEOs will have a new wing. We shall see. I wonder if AA has the issues on their 321Ts. I imagine an 85 seat difference should allow it to get to altitude on a transcon.

I heard this as well, but I haven't been able to find anything that substantiates that anywhere online. It seems if they are going thru a multi year process to get a new engine on it to make it more efficient they would also address that it flies at inefficient altitudes.

The 737NG needed a new wing to fit it's new role, an aircraft capable of 6+hr transcon flights. The previous 737s (300/400/500) were really more of a regional aircraft 4-5hr max..

The 321 is already capable of transcons, add sharklets and engines that consume 15-20% less and it's fine. Now if you want the thing to become an transoceanic AC, then I could see them re-engineering the wing.

Check out the new jetBlue 321's that start doing the transcons on June 15. They'll be 159 seats with pods/biz class seats gong JFK-LAX/SFO. You'll probably see 32-34k heading West to start.

The current high density 321s (190 seats) we have running to the islands have no problem getting up there.
