Average -900 approach

If they wanted us to worry about brake temperatures they would've given us brake temperature indicators.

When I land in Mexico City at 568000 pounds, I want to make sure that plug isn't gonna give when I am doing the post flight.

Depends on how heavy we were. 160+ IAS was not uncommon.

In the 767 now, it feels like I'm in a 172...especially if we're light.

Ref is usually in the 140s. If Ref is over 150 KIAS with 30 flaps you're overweight.

My captain did flaps 15 with a 15 knot additive the other day. Yeeeeeeet

Basically a lunar insertion. Too fast, you skip off the ground and go hurtling off in to the cosmos. Too slow, it flips over and explodes.

If you put a gun to my head and said “name the average Vref of the 737 or I’ll kill you” I’d probably die. We have way too many different variants and loads. But 140’s sounds about right much of the time. Easily into the 160’s with gusty winds and the appropriate additive though. I did learn a neat thing in recurrent this year. Your V2 speed is pretty close to your TO GW, if you move the decimal place 3 left. Not an exact science, or even something that could qualify as a rule-of-thumb, but more of an observation that one can use to sanity check the V speeds
