Morbid curiosity. Upgrade times?

Midwest base? Unlikely...At least I don't see any city in the short term (1-2 years) that would be a contender. I would't hold my breath on another base out W....maybe more W coast flying could help things out. But if I were a betting man I'd put money on a AA merger before any of the aforementioned scenarios.

I agree it's unlikely, but without some shorter stage lengths there are few ways to solve the problem.

I heard it was the other way around.

But maybe I'm thinking of 2014. :)

(All that being said, nothing would surprise me anymore in this crazy industry, especially when it comes to consolidation.)

I still owe Max a steak dinner for the sin of suggesting that two airlines with low fleet commonality would merge.

Is FedEx growing fast, retiring alot, or is being an FO really good there?
Yes, Yes, and Yes.
Also, since the bids cover such a long period of time, if you wish to upgrade in the next 2 years you need to lock it in now.
I think having control of one’s schedule is a big deal. So if you are a senior FO you may not want to give that up, I know I don’t.

If you are already junior and flying the worst trips, might as well get paid more.

2 year captains in DEN now

Frontier pilots be all like

Whats that line about, they never stopped to think if the should, even though they could?

Great for seniority, but some people need to some percolation time in the right seat before scooting overt the left...

Just had this discussion with my FO earlier today. Regardless whether you have "the right stuff" to be a good, safe Captain, because some people don't, a little bit of experience comes in handy when the chips are down and you're running low on ideas.

I don’t think anyone that gets hired at united needs more than the year required to upgrade.
