Min days off at a Legacy/Major

This thread makes me want to hang myself...career-wise.

To twist the knife, I'm one of the higher time reserve guys this weekend. I have 5 hours of credit and 00:50 of block. They limoed me to TPA to ferry a plane back to MCO, and that's been it. I was an hour away from being done for the week when they called me for that one. We have about 6 guys that haven't even been touched yet this month. One guy last flew in mid-September, and he's a line holder next month. They just released a hybrid line with every friday off in Nov, an extra Sat off AND Thanksgiving off. I'm betting that one goes senior, but it has to go to someone that's already bid reserve.

I'm on reserve for 7 hours tomorrow. If I don't get called, I'm off for the next week. You've got your stuff in over here, right? :)

Of course! Which is good, because it sounds like you are terribly understaffed :p

In MCO, we're overstaffed. Get into BOS and JFK, and it's can get pretty hectic, particularly during the busy season. It's kinda expected for reserves to do nothing Sept-first half of Nov. Xmas, spring break and summer? We'll probably have several days where we burn through every reserve and then some.

Sounds like a normal day to me.

I've done 3 trips since my checkride August 22nd. 2 of them were my 25 hours of OE.

3 week wait for OE. 3 weeks of reserve before first assignment.

Must be nice. Reserve normally goes senior here for the same reason, but it's been creeping downward as we only have one reserve per seat (with 18 aircraft) every day.

Is that an airport reserve shift?

No. That's regular 2 hour call out reserve. Airport reserve is 10am to 6pm and pays 5 hours. It goes SUPER senior. The number 1 and 2 guys (in both seats) generally split it over the course of the week. Also, it pays minute for minute for any duty time past 6pm. It's not unusual for them to get called out at 5pm to do a turn and pick up an extra hour+ on top of their 5 hours for the day. Also, airport reserve is listed as a pairing so using PBS you can bid for it just like any other trip. The number 1 captain in the plane generally sits it 3 days a week and then flies 2 days a week (for about 25 hours of credit a week) and then takes a week off at the end of the month.

Absolutely awesome system.
