Might as well move to the Lav Now (Pop the Popcorn Out)

Take the money and invest it.

This program will close more doors then open any, create more questions then answer any.
If it doesn't improve your career at all, has no monetary gain, is INCREDIBLY boring (flying a van is a snore as it is), why do it?
It looks like you got some CS experience, try getting a job as a bar tender. Just a suggestion.

I also find it funny that in the winter people are running from caravans and this chap wants to pay to get into one.

Just check Flightaware for your weather brief.

Thanks for the constructive criticism and I appreciate you not belittling me when giving me your opinion. I am in between a rock and a hard place and I think I have to go get a job outside of aviation here pretty soon. I just thought instead of paying to be current...I would pay to increase my career. I guess I was wrong.

Ditto...Plus a lot of places will not count the PIC time unless you signed the release or aircraft logbook as PIC

Do you honestly think that people are going to be sympathetic that you may have to take a job outside aviation? Lots of us are in that position. It's all part of it.

On that note, if anyone needs a way to process their credit card sales...drop me a PM. Good rates, have I! :p

I never asked for your sympathy so stop acting like your **** don't stink.

BTW you are employed so who are you to criticize?

Yeah, I am. For a few more weeks I'll be employed as a pilot. After that, I'll be self employed back into sales until things improve again.

Sorry that you don't want to take a job outside aviation, but sometimes you have to do what you need to do to pay the bills. I was practicing my "Would you like to Biggie Size that?" before I found my sales "job".

Tough times for everyone. Buying an SIC job isn't the answer.

:yeahthat:

If the company was reputable they would be paying you for your services as an SIC. It would also be loggable if they had it in their opspec that they required an SIC even though the aircraft type doesn't require it.

and yes, I was pretty much out of Aviation right after 9-11 and selling computers at a big box store. Until the 135 business picked up again.

how do you log 121 pic time if your not the true pic for the flight? if you have to be type rated as pic how do you go about it

It's hard to get a job now anywhere much less aviation. Everyone and there baby's mother wants people with 3 years of experience yada yada in the field of what you are applying for in order for them to hire (fast food maybe one exception). Yeah, happy holidays. Maybe I should consider pimping in a Santa costume.

jhugz,

If anything, don't pay for it.

Unnecessary. Look, I just find it ironic that the guy gets so angry. He acts holier than thou when it comes to PFT/PFJ and he did it too. He should understand, not belittle people, but no. He takes the "you're-ruining-aviation-for-everybody" lowroad instead. That's not to say that a lot of the information he has isn't valid, or useful, however, lecturing people about how much they're undercutting good jobs and hurting pilots using the tone that he uses is hypocracy when he was a participant in the very program that supposedly hurt the industry so much. As for "growing TFU," using that in the smae sentence as "some little low timer," is ironic, and juvenile, doubly so because your profile lists "1400TT+" as your total time, you've got just a little less time than me, pot calling the kettle black or whatnot. I got a good morning giggle out of this, this morning, thanks.

PCL has publicly admitted his mistake here any every other pilot board I've seen him on. He has explained why he did it, and why he's now against it. It is pathetic that you guys keep bringing it up - get over it already. The guy made a mistake and learned from it. I certainly respect that sort of thing, maybe you should consider it.

Yes, you are a low timer. I am too, and I never said I wasn't. I don't even have ATP mins, why in the heck would I consider myself high time? I got my commercial cert in March '07, I have a ton to learn. Because of that, I don't act like a cocky kid on pilot forums, because I know there are a lot of pilots out there with real experience that can humble me in about 3 secs. I also know that there are a lot of guys and girls out there that can help me find jobs and develop great connections for my career. In fact, I got my current job through a pilot board, and the guy that got me hired told me he went through my posts to see what my personality was like. I thought it made sense and was a good idea, and I will certainly do the same thing if/when the occasion arises.

I don't think anyone would be against it if it were a true "job". It sounds like pay to play though.

If they were going to hire you and pay you to be the SIC in the van, then have at it.

He's already said that he doesn't respect anyone who works at a non-union company etc. or that he'll never respect anyone who works at GoJet, no matter what, so I'm just saying lets cut the BS. Frankly, I like the guy, he's rational for the most part, and intelligent, he just gets a little worked up about some issues for no reason at all. He's also very knowledgeable about airline ops, and union issues, his message gets lost in the waves of frustration a lot, but most people can sift through it. Calling the guy every now and then can't hurt.

As for the rest of your post, guess what, I'm not high time either, you're not hig time until you break at least 7000TT mark or so. As for wading through posts to find out what kind of person you are, I don't think that telling people to "grow the $#@& up" is really a good way to go about showing your exemplary personality. Further, calling people a cocky kid just comes off as arrogant and rude, you never know who your next chief pilot's going to be, you don't know what job you're going to have next, and you don't know who you'll be interacting with on a daily basis, so don't be argumentative just for argument's sake.

Now back to the original topic:

I whole heartedly agree with IanJ's take on the matter in relation to airnet, don't pay for it, but if you're hurting for hours and its free, why not, you've really got nothing to lose. Logging the time as sole manipulator is legal eagle, but I doubt that you'll want to say that that's how you operated it when you go in front of that hiring board.

or that he'll never respect anyone who works at GoJet, no matter what,

Correction: I've said that I don't respect people who go to GoJet who know better ahead of time. I've got nothing against the newbies who took FO jobs without knowing the history. It's the experienced guys that know what GoJet is all about and still decide to stab the TSA pilots in the back that I can't respect.

That's fair, I stand corrected.
