MGM Resorts, FO Gig

Hi njlopez2, I applied. I live in Phoenix now but can relocate easily. Have Gulfstream type rating, ATP, however, its in the G1, but also have 135 and glass cockpit experience and a jet type.....how does one get an interview? Thanks....Brian.
Hey brian, not sure how much the G1 will help, but it definitely can't hurt! We have a lot of guys hired on recommendations, but they will interview people who have no internals too! The key is the interview, once you are in there the playing field is level, it doesn't matter who you do/dont know. If you see any of our planes, don't hesitate to talk to the crew members, all of our pilots will be happy to talk about the job with you. Best of luck!

What are competitive numbers for FO. And why do they ask for your social on the job application? Never have seen that on an initial application

It's for a Casino. I believe anybody that works for them has to have a clean or Simi clean record. Plus they probably do a known associates check. Make sure you don't have ties to the mob.

The amount of flying varries, but the department stays pretty busy. You could probably plan 35 to 50 hoursa month, but it really does varry! Upgrades are very easy, after 500 hours (around a year) with the company, you fly a trip with the ACP or CP and upon completion you are a captain. All the FOs are PIC typed from day one, so there would be no additional training. Some jet PIC is always competitve, backgrounds vary with new hires all the time. Its really anyones ball game, having an internal helps too. The background/credit check is pretty extensive, that would be my guess for why they want the SSN. Hope this helps!

Good Luck guys. Talked (email) with CP and got thanks, no thanks. I just don't have the time. It is a job I would of loved to have.

Any Idea what interviews are like at a place like MGM? A couple friends flying corporate say they are generally more HR focused interviews. Anyone have some general advice for interviews of this sort? I would like to be prepared if I ever got an opportunity.

I would assume, like the place I work, hire for the person. If you have a type rating and other rounding out qualities, can you do more then move a gear handle, and your personality is what they want. Then the interview should be a conversation, not an interview. I should be very shortly looking for a new FO, if you have to prepare, then I don't want you. That's not you I am taking to. You should be able to answer simple aviation questions, but I feel since we have a big book of answers, then memorizing it is a waste.

Anyone gotten further calls/info? I check it almost daily and haven't gotten the "Thanks, but no thanks" email yet (here's hoping I can get to Vegas for a face-to-face)

edit - Checked this morning and now shows "inactive"?

Mine says the same thing. I emailed the CP a few weeks ago he said it takes time for the process to move. So who knows. I at least got a response, so that is always a nice sign.

Just out of curiosity, what are the benefits like there? I don't have the time yet, but it sounds like a gig I would be interested in applying to down the road. Thanks!

Hey guys, I've been in Japan the past week so I've been semi out of the loop with whats going on in the office. With that being said, I believe interviews for the FO slot have concluded and they have picked a few candidates to continue with the hiring process. Not sure if/when the thanks but no thanks emails will go out. In my opinion they do not handle this portion of the application process well. Everyones status will remain the same until the current candidates recieve job offers. The current candidates still have to get through a psych eval and a drug screening before being offered the position. Hope this helps guys, hope that you will all give us another chance in the future.

Would love to have a shot at this in a couple years! Best of luck to those who are qualified now!
