Along those lines...

Here's a nice little video to watch... ;)

[yt]AK6_-rhAPog[/yt]

(PG-13 for written language of a pilot expressing his frustrations with Mesa... and happiness of no longer working there.)

But... it's a good video... I promise. :)

Re: mesa-air-sucks.com

Did you ever think that there are pilots that fly for Mesa that kind of depend on Mesa's growth for their livelihood? It seems like everyone associated with Mesa on every level (the pilots) gets their brains beat in.

I dont know. From what I understand the pilots are trying to improve QOL and pay there and make it a better place to work but it doesnt seem like thats possible with all of the bashing going on. Mainly by fellow PILOTS.

I read stuff saying people hate to see Mesa pick up contracts, wish they'd go out of business, ect. I dont hear stuff like that about ANY other regional. I have friends that work there who say its not bad. I've heard shady stuff about multiple airlines including XJT, PCL, SKYW, and Colgan but it would appear that everyone takes it upon themselves to bash Mesa every chance they get.

I would think us, as pilots, would be pulling for their company to improve and become a place of decent pay and QOL.

Just a thought..

Guys, see my response to anther anti-Mesa thread. It gets old to read. People's issue is with JO but when you bash the company you in turn bash the pilots which are working to make it a better place to work.

Each company has their pitfalls. When you wish all this misfortune on Mesa, you're wishing it on their pilots. If the company doesnt do well, pilots dont do well. You dont see me bashing, wishing or publicly marketing to not fly them.

I would think you guys would grow up and pull for your pilot buddies at MAG to improve their situation but it doesnt seem to work that way. Bottom line? I dont wish people would stop flying XJT, SKYW, ASA or other because I know that in turn it would affect some good people and their lives.

Re: mesa-air-sucks.com

What Mesa is going through is about what every regional in the US is going through or will go through. Lots of high CASM aircraft, lowering operating revenues and the need for a continual flow of cheap labor.

Mesa has its issues just as other regionals do. Again and last I will say, it gets old reading the Mesa bashing here. People post their dontflyMesa links for what? Their issue with their CEO? Get over it. Its OUR FELLOW PILOTS flying for them and I wish them nothing but the best.

I wish some of the other folks here who feel its their personal duty to beat up on the company would grow up.

While I definitely agree with you. You've said your peace so now let the chips fall where they may, no use getting frustrated about it, and having a cornary about it.

Not saying that you're pissed and drinking but you do sound frustrated and almost taking it personally! Just trying to save you some grief!

Now if someone said something about southernjets... okay I understand. Time for the big beat down!!!

:sarcasm:

I dont take it personally. I just get sick of reading it for the reasons I previously stated.

We pilots should bring eachother up and hope the best for eachother. Root for eachother. Not hope our fellow pilots company goes bust and definately not join in the destruction of an organization that employs great pilots.

I am not pissed and drinking although that doesnt sound like a bad idea right now.

Thats all I have to say about that.

As an ex-Mesa employee, I can definitely say that Mesa can be saved! Just need a new decent pilot contract, decent pay for non union employees and no JO. As long as JO makes the board members and stockholders mass money he'll be a permanant fixture. Sad...just sad!

I agree with you but it has got to be hard for some guys to root for others. I doubt there are too many Air Wisconsin guys out there that would root for Mesa to succeed.

If I remember correctly, when Mesa took the United contract, that basically got the AWAC guys booted out of DEN without anyone to fly for. If not for the US deal, they may have really been left out in the cold. As it ended up, they only had to move across the country to keep their jobs.

If they didn't have that bad contract at Mesa, would Mesa have been able to underbid AWAC?

True, so true. Give it another year or so and XJT or Horizon might be at the bottom, you never know.

I agree, when is the new contract support to start talks?

Remember Max, if you want to goto DAL in the long run, right now its better to goto Mesa then CMR... You ASA plans might be changing as well!

I wouldnt touch ASA with a 100' pole right now. I declined my interview there. The company is a mess. Hopefully they can pull it together.

Eh, Mesa..never. I'd go to SKYW first! ASA is my first choice but I have alternates.

I do really think that you want to go Mesa. I can't begrudge you. So get your stuff ready and apply! Just know what you're in for from the start.

How exactly is that company a mess? Yes they have no contract in 5 years almost 6. But if anything the "mess" that ASA is in, is because finally a pilot group stood tall and said no more, drew their line in the sand to their President and your close family friend and refuse to budge and only want a fair contract for their work. The true mess is that management wanted the employees to do more with less while working for pennies, while management gets rich. That is the real true mess. And if ASA pilots have a backbone and are willing to stand up to management and demand a fair contract with fair pay and work rules. Then they sound like the kind of pilot group I want to be asscoaciated with!

Also, remember that just before the end everything looks bad. It will get better and eventually a contract will be signed. Just look to Comair and Mesaba as examples!

Can someone give me a more detailed idea of why QOL sucks so much at Mesa????

Are guys recieving fair and competitive pay checks on a regular basis? When someone takes a bid, is he guranteed his/her schedule, or is it subject to change last minute. Whats to terrible about the contract? I don't plan on doing it, however, I did call up just to inquire about the PACE program, and I was told that first contract is only 365 days, and as soon as that is completed, there is no re-pay training penalty...

Yeah Max, but it's been four years and they still don't have a contract. They need to force the company's hand. Otherwise ASA will be closing shop and all the equipment will go to SkyWest. IF..SkyWest isn't ALPA by then, It will either be the door or go non-union to stay employed at the super/mega SkyWest. That's what I see in my crystal ball for ASA. (I should add a disclaimer with a bunch of little unreadable words!:D )

To be honest, at this point everyone is considered fair game in my book. As I get closer then the list will get shorter, but they have time to make change. Another year, a better contract, and xxx regional could be top dog, even Mesa. Remember the pilots that are there are working to make it a better place, they just need to get to negociations.

Which I asked somewhere else, but will again. When is their negoications to begin? For some reason I think it is this summer.

Pay checks are received, but every Mesa pilot I've talked to has said there are many errors (and usually in the benefit of the company, surprise surprise). These pilots also said that their schedules changed very often, and often for the worst.

The 365 contract you mentioned is the training contract, which is an amount you must pay back if you leave with less than one year of service at Mesa (I think it's $10k for jet and $8k for turboprop).

As far as the actual Mesa pilot contract (CBA) goes... here's how to get your own copy:

Take the most convoluted dictionary you can find. Throw it on the floor. Have your dog take a sh*t on it. Then, set it on fire, and immediately spill milk on top of it. That right there is your very own Mesa pilot CBA (contract).

Oh my God! HAHAHAHA:yup:

Oh you woudn't believe how much schedules get changed and how much the company jerks the crews all over country. Try taking the average crew tracking dept at __________ (fill in the blank with your airline) and mulitply the calls and the hatred for those crew trackers x 1000. Welocome to Mesa! Every day I listened to the crew trackers try to fill flights and deadhead crews to hell and back. They are the pizzyest group of people I ever met. Talk about whiners! I don't blame crews for calling fatigue. Mesa is really big on repo flights for mx.

I used to have a copy of the training contract, that I swiped from the training building along with the sim sylibus for the CRJ (I still have that).
