Merger Mania... Who's Next?

Maybe at ACE we can have a craps table setup with all the merger odds.

My money is on AA and JB. But if you are right, Delta is basically saying "Silly American, I fart in your general direction!"

The only reason I'd edge towards JB is that we've got a MASSIVE JFK terminal problem. They've got some swanky digs there in JFK. Throw the domestic stuff to the JB terminal, international-only ops at 2 & 4, problem semi-solved.

If you're going to spend billions to fix the terminal, might as well spend billions and get some airplanes out of it.

when the two forums merge, do I get to increase my post count? and I have a super decoder ring elsewhere, so with the seniority lists combing, can I keep it?

I could see Allegiant/Spirit. Model isn't all that different, with the exception Spirit has hub/spoke and Allegiant is hub-nowhere, USA.

I want DL + AK, you guys still want to be #1 on west coast, right?

Man AS is getting huge on the West Coast. They're turning SJC into quite a focus city and added multiple Hawaiian cities to SMF, SJC, and OAK all within the last year or so. I guess with the fall of Mexicana, ATA, and Aloha plus AA dumping the SJC hub, hell, why not dig in? I did notice Horizon dumped several cities from LAX on the same day but added SJC. I wonder where all those Q400s were put?

That's why my vote is DL+AS!

US & JetBlue....similar fleet, even the same engines on the 320's...(West at least) US needs to make a move, cause once all these mergers in progress are finalized, they'll be up a creek.

The next big thing is.............

Wait for it.............................

FEDEX and UPS. Box seating!

You heard IT here first, huhhhhhh?!?!??!?!?!?!:dunno:

Well there are only two left. US and AA. It's not the perfect marriage, but it's probably going to happen because these folks are hell bound to merge this industry into outer space.

With that being said, it would probably take an AA Chapter 11 to get them in position to merge. AA is the only airline that has not gone through Chapter 11 and they now have the highest expenses in the industry.

The advantages of a US AA merger are the midwest hub (DFW) and the MIA hub to Latin America. Both of these hubs would benefit US.

The disadvantages are many including major labor integration problems. But if I were betting, then I would bet on a combination of the two airlines.

How much higher, as a percentage are AA's costs over, say, USAir in similar operations?

I mean DL is going to have 100% higher costs than perhaps XJET when it comes to international catering expenses:)

Alaska + Hawaiian + American = Bonus army men for controlling the entire country.

(In case you didn't get it, a Risk reference)

but Eastern Australia, Indonesia, New Guinea and Western Australia are key to winning the game... you can keep north america...
