Members ONLY job Posting(s)

The applicant doesn't need to know that. And who's to say one of the "qualifications" wasn't to be a member of JC?

Of course he doesn't need to know that. Im just making a funny. I do love how he tries to get all "legal-ese" about it.

Ah. I get it!

Easy. "I did review your resume, and unfortunately, you did not meet the qualifications."
See? Now that would have been the easy to go! Although I'm not sure it was "unfortunate" that he didn't meet the requirements. :D

My response wasn't quite as short but here it is:

"The extraction and use of this information taken without authority from a members only, secure section of an advertising venue of my choosing is the main point of issue. There is no protection under the law with regards to elimination of, nor does discrimination exist under these circumstances. That having been stated, I would love to argue this one in court. Proceed as you see fit....

How about this then:
I dismissed your resume because I don't like the idea of you photographing yourself in the cockpit. While the other pilot may have been in total control of the plane or you may have been on the ground it leads me to believe that you have a "casual attitude" about your position of responsibility. And while that may not be an accurate assessment of who you are or how you operate, it is (and was) my first impression upon opening your resume. In addition, your resume did not meet the requirements of the posting (please re-read the posting and compare, I think you will see what I mean). Therefore, you failed to comply with the requirements of the job announcement (regardless of where you might have seen it).

Thank you for your interest in the position, I have decided to pursue other candidates based on any (or all) of the reason(s) stated above,
[dustoff17]"

As a future unemployed pilot and being able to watch over the last 6 plus years hours and hours of legal TV (law and order, Nancy Grace etc..) I now consider myself an amateur lawyer, I will personally take up your defense and see if this has any merit to his accusation.

Yeah, this.
An applicant dropping the "legal-ese" to a potential employer can't be the best move. What response would he expect?
"Oh, yeah you're right. Please forgive me. I've reconsidered, you have the job AND please allow me to give you a sign-on bonus. AND as soon as you move down here, I'll match my kids while you go on a date with my wife! Please drop her off in the morning in time so that she can take the kids to school. Thank you!"

I did reply to all the "other" applicants that the posting was not intended for them to see and that I apologize for thier inconvenience. I thought this was better than no response.

I will state this though: Other than the intitial response of "so what if a JC Member pasted a private message all over the internet?", the most interesting thing I got out of this was an email from one specific applicant. Apparently he has time to watch Law and order because this was his response to my selection process: "I have also seen your posting on [another web page] as well. I understand someone may have posted it on other sites however, the fact to not review an applicant on those grounds I would think is not legal."

What? So it's illegal for me to select (or not select) a resume to review? Really??

You know this would be great material for an interview prep class.

Folks, the last thing you want to do is get into a bitchfest with a potential aviation employer about anything. The guy that sent this e-mail to the potential employer did not get this concept.

Potential employers, in this business, are looking closely at your attitude.

If you exhibit anything that would indicate that you are going to be hard to get along with by your crew or any other airline employee, you will not be hired. period.

If you exhibit anything (in person, in online forums or on facebook) that indicates you don't use good sense, or follow the rules, you will not be hired. period.

If you do not dress properly (neatly) for the interview, you will not be hired. period.

This really is a small community. If an employer is hiring, I've given you the main reasons why you would not be hired to fill an aviation position assuming you are otherwise qualified.

Joe
