Martinaire 1900's ?

They haven't yet.

UPS gave us 2 runs that require 1900s based in the Dakotas.

We'll see how all this works out. I'm not likely to ever fly them anyway, and I've seen WAY too many false alarms to get excited until everything is final.

Here's a thought... why did UPS stipulate that it had to be a 1900? Martinaire already operates SA227's and they can haul dang near the same load... why couldn't Martinaire simply maintain one multi engine type fleet? Lack of Metro's available?

You can get about 6000lb's in some 1900's compared to only 4000 or so in a metro. Due the the metro having a circular shape and a 1900 have more of a square shape, the boxes fit better and more can be loaded into one. A metro bulks and cubes out far easier than a 1900 would.

I've just listed qualities of a 1900 over a metro. I'm going to go throw up now.:)

Its ok to vomit... Garretts are still waaaayyy cooler than PT-6's... I was thinking Metro's would be less expensive than a Beech and since it isn't something they have in operation right now I found it odd they would bring them on... do they have to get an operating certificate with the addition of the Beech or does the operating cert cover all operations under a certain company name? I ask because I don't know.... and if they did it seems like an awful lot of work for two airframes...

Efficiency wise, the metro wins easily. It's a bit faster and burns less fuel. The 1900 has to burn way more fuel to keep up with a metro! There I feel better.

Basically, the metro is all around a manlier plane than a 1900. :D

Aparently there will be 4 spots. I threw my name in the hat. But only being here 6 months I'm sure someone else will get it. 3 spots are taken.
