Mama said there’d be days like this...

Of course on really bad days like that you are glad it is your Friday. Then of course the company decides to buy pizza the next day when you aren't there to have any. Which makes you miserable on your days off.

Liked for pure, unadulterated, 190 proof truth. I have dwelt in that place, and it sucks.

Ya know, we all have rough days when the operation goes to crap, but from the perspective of working alongside Crew Scheduling (and same goes for MX Control as well) they do a great job.
Yeah you're right, the operation wouldn't survive without the schedulers. I just never heard good things about the work environment of crew scheduling. They do all the hard work on that front and arent compensated or treated all that well

Mine don't answer the phone when I call.

Lol. What did you do? ;)

Kidding.

Something I've learned from watching my father be a pilot (in and out of the 121 world) is that no one job is more important than the other. It takes a tremendous amount of people, and skillsets to get PAX from one place to another.

I think conflict happens when people lose sight of that. We lose sight of the big picture (which by the way, as dispatchers we have a tremendous amount of the picture, but even still we don't see EVERYTHING).

That is true. I'm not sure what our schedulers get paid, but they definitely have a tough job.

No one wants to be told that "We need you to do a repo at 8pm tonight to MCO. Yes, I know you were supposed to be headed home to TPA tonight. Sorry, we need you."

Absolutely. I get tunnel vision, not on a particular flight, but on completing my goals, which are often different than the other departments we interact with. It is easy to sit in a chair and complain about re-filing a strip or adding an MEL with substantial penalties, but forget about the actual people that are now on a multi-hour delay that is impacting their lives.

There is a certain regional airline based in Dallas where crew schedulers make more than dispatchers. But to be fair, they have to put up with WAY too much crap to not have decent compensation.

You haven't truly been indoced until you have a double-D! And trust me, it's not limited to the regional shops.

And true story about "disaster management reward meals". The poor bastards who made chicken salad out of chicken s*** are ironically the ones sitting in their living room on the day the rest of the office is enjoying Mattito's.

On the other hand, those are the days that legitimate the money they're paying me here, so I guess I'll just shut up and fire up the grill in honor of my Tex-Mex eating co-workers in the salt mine on that day.
