Malaysia Airlines 777 missing

Pusher in a climb into the 40's? Maybe I'm missing what you are getting at.

I was just commenting on the reports that it climbed fairly rapidly up to the 40's, then descended pretty quickly. I'm not familiar with the 777 so I don't know it's altitude limits for different weights/temperatures, etc... It's just a theory, but I was kind of thinking of a what if scenario where the airplane was climbing on auto pilot in vertical speed mode, and as it continued in the climb it could have slowed to the stick pusher.
Just speculation of course as I don't have any experience with the 777.

Aliens, man. Aliens.

What, that's crazy? No crazier than any of the harebrained speculation I've seen reported at "news."

BTW, some journalists still practice it. I'm working on a business that's going to be featured in a digital magazine. It's good publicity for me and a nice story for them, and who knows, maybe you'll see my ugly mug on one of the local affiliates when I get things rolling.

The reporter asked me to give her the names of the contacts at the companies and agencies I'll be working with, and she will not run the story until she confirms it with all of them.

She's doing all that for a company that's going to be featured on a digital magazine for a network affiliate in the 30th largest media market.

And then we have the jokers on cable news giving air time to people who have no clue what they are talking about, with no data to support their "conclusions."

In another life I did some freelance feature journalism for a couple magazines in Dallas. I covered an old Honky Tonk, Roller Derby, Nanotechnology and a few other bits.

On all of them - ALL OF THEM - the magazines fact-checked thoroughly.

I always envision the anti-Christ looking like Gary Busey on a bad hair day. The shirt just adds to the effect.

Ah i think thats Nick Nolte...................................but same effect !

Saying the computer was programmed because a the turn???? Isn't that just HDG and spin the dial? Not talking FMS programming here folks. Any simmer could probably do that.

The reporting on this has gotten just as bizarre as the story itself. Blame the 24-hour news cycle, where if there isn't anything to new report then just make it up. It's pathetic, and the amount of speculation out there masquerading as "news" is just unbelievable. Where do they find these "experts?"

Most likely because investigators have concluded the plane followed an airway and wasn't flying purely by heading

As a news editor who has been secretly using aviator forums to research and fact-check our Malaysian 777 stories, I want you all to know how disappointed I am in the accuracy of the information you've posted here.

The alleged "Gary Busey" picture you posted above was Nick Nolte's 2002 DUI booking photo. Below is the real Gary Busey on a bad hair day. C'mon guys. Check your facts before posting any more aviation information that might lead the world in the wrong direction on this important story. This is the second-to-worst screw up we've found on this thread. The other one would have gotten me fired if I'd printed it. A third mistake of this magnitude and we'll have to ban JetCareers from the news room.

p.s. - Seriously - thx for the great info that some of you guys have shared with us here, and by PM. Amazing stuff. It's helped a lot.

Yea the major news has thrown itself to all manner of wild speculation. I had to turn off CNN last night when some psychologist was inferring that all pilots need regular psychological evaluation and "They might have something wrong with themselves and not even know it!!! Its our job to tell them they have something wrong and get them out of the cockpit!!". I could feel my blood pressure rising higher with every word she spoke. "Why do the pilots have the ability to turn off the 'radar transponder'!!??" she screeched over and over.

After I finished the psychological exam on my AA application the other night I started wondering if maybe I should have searched around first for some gouge. Heck I could be crazy and not know it, and it would be Terrible if I could have hidden the fact but didn't!
