Major goof up on Monday Memphis PEPC

So I talked to 3 other people that were at the Memphis PEPC on Monday, & same as me, none of us were asked to show ANY form of identification at ANY point throughout the day. I thought this was very odd, since we are applying for pretty high government security clearance. I would have thought AT LEAST for the drug test they would try to make sure of who you are. I will say they did do a pretty good job of escorting you everywhere to make sure no one else took your place. However, what if someone totally different was there for the entire day? They could pass all your medical & drug test screening for you.

I was worried that because of this, it would make EVERYTHING that we did all day completely void. I brought this fact up to some of the HR people there, & they acted VERY surprised that no one was checking ID. As I was leaving they were talking about it to the lady in charge, so hopefully for the rest of this week they will have taken care of this issue. They said that since it was their mess-up, we wouldn't have to do anything over again, but what do they know? IT'S A GOVERNEMNT SECURITY CLEARANCE.

There is one thing that gave me a little hope. Fingerprints. All they would have to do is check our fingerprints over again, along with our photo ID once we got to OKC. That way they would be certain that the person who gave them those sets of prints were the same ones who were at the PEPC. I certainly hope this will be the case & that I won't have to do EVERYTHING over again.

Yah they didn't check my ID yesterday either in Memphis. Which was kind of messed up because while waiting for my drug test I overheard how an applicant was jumped in Memphis the day before and had his wallet taken from him which had his ID so he couldn't take his drug test. My guess is he came in explaining he didn't have it, he shouldn't have said anything at all!

Another little tid bit of info for those wondering about Chicago and Memphis PEPC, for those of us who were in Memphis yesterday can confirm, TOL class date = JANUARY!!!!! Don't quit your jobs just yet.

Do you think this is just for En-Route or both, my PEPC is on thurs

I heard another suggestion that they might start night classes. The HR guy told me they were saying January "to be safe". He said realistically it could be anywhere from October to January, but as we all know "a few weeks" actually means over a year with the FAA. So, who knows what "to be safe" means.

The impression I got was this only applies to en-route.

Gas to drive to ATSAT location: $40
Airline ticket to PEPC: $800
Attending NY PEPC and finishing FAA Academy before fellow 2/15 applicants at the Memphis and Chicago PEPC even start: PRICELESS :laff:

If you were concerned that your results would be Voided or that you would have to redo the PEPC, you probably shouldn't have said anything to them.

If you didn't realize until later that this error could have resulted in a Void or redo of your PEPC, you probably shouldn't have called them out on multiple threads here. It is possible that these boards and boards like it are monitored by FAA management who may decide to make an issue out of this.

If I was in management I would strongly consider sending everyone that was in that PEPC that day a letter stating that some of your counterparts are extremely concerned about the fact that no one checked your ID's (despite having your fingerprints taken) so we will Void all your results and have you attend a future PEPC.

It is really not fair and a bummer but most of managements crappy decisions are a result of a few people complaining about a petty issue.

Failure to check ID for something like a federally mandated drug screening isn't a petty issue, it's illegal. People have lost their jobs for less. Now, I completely agree, it is "management's" fault, and I wouldn't bring it up after the fact, but I would have made sure to show my photo ID to someone of importance before leaving that day.

However, with the fingerprint issue, shouldn't be a problem at all. I can't believe that someone could make it through the entire day without showing any form of identification... we had to have two just to take the AT-SAT for crying out loud...

These boards are monitored by FAA management. At the NYC PEPC, they spoke about how applicants had a lot of knowledge about the entire interview process.

:yeahthat: My wifes interviewer asked her if she had read "the forums"...

When I was asked how I prepared for the interview. I said "I'll be honest, I read all about other people's PEPC experiences online."

Ya'll are the lucky ones...We didn't have people telling us about them....glad we could help out fellow applicants!!!!! Best of luck to all of us in this holding pattern to get out before we all turn 31!!!!

HAHA! You have no idea. Lalexf, I actually printed out your post with the interview questions and read over them while speeding down the interstate to the PEPC. I got crunched for time.:rawk:

Insanity. Whenever we had a urinalysis in the military we had to show two forms of id -our military ID with picture, and our dog tags -both had our socials on them, and we had to sign the urinalysis sheet with the barcode that matched the sticker that was put on the pee cup stating that all information was correct. I'd be worried if there were no formalities with such a huge thing that could ruin your life if the results came back wrong. :panic:

Ha ha ha....I can see it now....Dozens of ATC applicants are mamed or killed on their way to something called a PEPC interview around the US. The only commonality among all these individuals was an abundance of printouts from a source called jetcareers.com. Officials tell us that the paperwork was rich with information about interview questions, security and medical clearance, pay scales and where to stay in Oklahoma City. There is something about a TOL ,that all are desiring, that makes these hundreds of people flock to random locations around the US like pigeons. There are no accidents reported leaving the above mentioned PEPCs, which we have since learned are PreEmploymentProcessingCenters, However, police have recorded a rise in fines involving the use of cell phones and eating while driving between the hours of 1:00pm and 5:00pm after these PEPCs are to be over. There are no other related incidents that are associated with the PEPCs.

This just in: There are ATC Applicants that are reported being glued to their computers and constantly hitting the refresh button on their emails waiting for something called an FOL. Applicants are loosing weight due to lack of nutrition as they claim to not want to get up from thier computers for fear that they may miss that golden email. Some applicants are reporting severe depression after having been sitting at their computers for multiple weeks now just to find out that there has been a hold placed on classes. Folks, we couldn't get these kids out of bed in the morning to get them to go to school and now they are depressed because they don't know when they will be getting to go. I strange occurance is happening in the US today, people and it all centers around Oklahoma City. Watch out there is a storm a brewin!!!!!

Wow I guess I have some time on my hands now!!!:laff:

I don't think it is illegal. They use the photo ID to make a positive identification of the individual being tested. There are other ways to do this without using an ID, including identification of the individual by an agency representative.

It is clear that the spirit of the photo ID requirement is to identify the person being tested. Fingerprints are much more accurate than photo IDs so I do not think there was any illegal activity taking place here. That, in my opinion, makes this a petty issue.

its not a petty issue ha. Look it, you have to sign everywhere you go, if you weren't the person who they think you are and your signing gov't release forms its very illegal, but that would be on the person fraudulently signing off hwoever you would EXPECT that they check this sort of thing to cover themselves. Incase they do a search in someones background and had a fraudulent signature they could probably be held liable for whoevers information they pulled up, because they never had consent to do so. (medical records and the like is private info even from the gov't). but they did get fingerprints so really it only pertains to the drug test and medical EKG and all.
