Made the first turnoff, too...

@Boris Badenov, did the reverse work on those Garretts? On the Metro, they sucked, but they were also stopping a lot of weight, because the brakes didn't work, either.

Worked like a champ. Instant reverse because the engines were already spooled up, unlike a PT-6 *spit*. In my experience, reverse on the 99 kicked in just about the time you didn't need it anymore. The Marquises with the -10s and four blade props were stunning. You got weight on wheels and pulled the levers over the gate and it was like hitting a freaking wall, hanging in the straps. I'm pretty sure I could get a Marquise stopped in 500 feet if my life depended on it. Another amazing airplane murdered by the Safety Mafia.

So then not at all what I asked. Jesus, you really are a lawyer, aren't you?

A lawyer? No, I'm a pilot that operates aircraft that weigh more than 12,500 lbs. I mean the whole, "I can fly at approach speeds en route and then land in not much of a shorter distance than most aircraft" is cute, but the WSCOD was a beast. You could carry a pair of MU-2's with you for a few hours, and then put the plane down on a comparative postage stamp.

Oh and it also had hot wings, unlike that piece of crap you're operating now.

I'm waiting for somebody to do a cargo conversion on it. Amflight will probably be the first, and will try to argue with the FAA that they can do a short course for the Bro pilots.

Plenty of rumors... They want them. Probably go with CRJ though

Our exemption and scope with FedEx would allow it. I give it 2 years before they get serious.

Training would probably be a day. Haha

How many did they have? I know of the fuel exhaustion crash at EEN, and the CFIT at DDH.
They did 3 in 14 months if I remember correctly, DDH being the exclamation point on the single pilot op for that fleet. Then they didn't want to comply with the upgrades for the Scare-avan because it costs too much and ice in New England and Upstate New York isn't really that big a deal. This was a decade ago for me so I don't remember all the jokes and timelines. There's a bunch of pilots up in the DDH area that would pick on Scarenow around the water cooler when things were slow. About half of them were current Scarenow pilots and the other half were ex scarenow.

Well the Hondo is a better airplane than the metro - that's just it.
Hondo haters gonna hate.

Didn't they also have a love affair with a Wal-Mart? Or was that Waggins?

The third was when they crashed a Bandit into the WalMart in MHT after an engine failure. No one was hurt, thank god.

That place was bad news. Couple MX guys in AQW used to joke that Airnow was first in straining pilots through cockpits.

Wiggins? :)

Bringing low prices even lower! New England has a lot of animosity toward WalMart, but they still work there. Of course the one in PSF used to be ranked worst on the east coast for 3 years in a row or 3 years close together. One guy used to sit at the front door and stare people down as they entered pointing to his "Welcome" button. He was a permanent fixture for two years.

That's the event I was thinking of.

I believe Wiggins had an incident several years ago (way before my time, at least) and inverted what was their only Twin Otter, but that may be a company myth. Who knows.
