LuggageWorks

Related. I have the luggage works executive (plastic) and love the thing. Yeah after 4+ years it's a little more beat up than the metal ones. But it was cheaper, lighter, and has 100% less scary sharp edges. Anyway, last summer I had a set of bearings blow out on me. I got a new pair, replaced the bad one, and figured id fix the other side while I was at it. Unfortunately the axel/ bolt wouldn't back out as I turned it.

This last trip the bearings on that side failed in spectacular fashion. Unfortunately the bolt still just turns, but never backs out. Anyone have any suggestions? It looks like I may be able to get to the nut on the end of the bolt by removing the tube into which the handle retracts into, but if that's not the case id rather not waste the time.

Regardless, the plastic one is great too. It's missing some screws and is slightly misshapen from the load the flight case places on it. But if I have to replace this one, I'll be getting another one just like it.

I killed my plastic LW "international" bag in three months. But then I was carrying a ridiculous amount of wine back from Europe in it.

I can pack for 12 days in a standard bag so I'm largely happy with my metal 22" and still have space to bring back sweet, sweet liquor.

This post reminded me to try to fix mine...couldn't...just ordered a new one. Time to take the old one out and shoot it.

I do this with cars, place a human like characteristic to it. But even if it only lasted four years, it has seen a lot. Other than the $200 for a new one, it's kind of sad to have to replace it.

Custom name strap came in today... spent part of the afternoon replacing the strap (easy) and locktite-ing the screws that had backed themselves out... which was a surprising number actually. Should be good to go now! Back to the front lines oh-bag-of-mine, you have commuting to do!

12 days???? A four day trip in the winter time used to require me to sit on mine to close it! A 5 day reserve sequence in summer is not a lot better. How the deuce are you able to pack for that long?

5 days is stretching it for me and that is toiletry kit, 1 pair jeans, one pair tennis shoes, underwear/socks/undershirt1 for every day, and a tshirt.

Well, I can wear a shirt twice on layovers. For example, if we land in XYZ, I generally won't be showered and on the loose until 1600 or 1700 and you're usually only wearing it for five or six hours. One pair of jeans as you really shouldn't wash jeans that often anyway. Underwear for every shower I take (basically you'll shower twice in an international city and probably one in a domestic city in the winter time). A uniform shirt per two legs. Socks as you like them, voila. Oh, workout shoes and clothes as well.

I'm impressed. I pack for 7 and just do laundry at some point.

What the heck do you airline guys pack!? I can't imagine having to only pack for a 4 day trip! My backpack would be enough for that!

Working an 8 day cycle with the 22" is a breeze as far as packing goes. When I went to Europe last month for vaca, I did 13 nights with my LW bag without any problem.

Yeah I really have no need to carry 12 pairs of underwear, undershirts, socks, etc. Just not gonna happen. Most I'll do is 5 and then just bring some quarters, a dryer sheet, and a small amount of detergent. I don't pack any extra shirts or pants beyond a pair of jeans and running shoes and my bag is full.

On a typical four day sequence I will have: (this is excluding what I am wearing...this is merely in the bag)

Shoes
One pair of either jeans or shorts
2 outside of work shirts
2 workout shirts
Workout shorts
An extra work shirt
3 under shirts (4 if uncommutable on front or back, 5 if uncommutable both ends)
3 underwear (Same as above)
Sweatshirt (winter time)
Toiletry bag

My LW Stealth 22 arrived today and I like it already.

It replaces a StrongBags Vortex 2 which was larger than advertised - 1" longer, 1" wider, 1.75" deeper - and it never when in an overhead in anything from a CRJ to 767. Customer service refused to refund my money so I'm going with LW from now on.

If anyone wants to make an offer on the Vortex 2, PM me. Real world dimensions: 23.75" x 14.75" x 8.75".

I had the 22 lw bag for six years, I beat it up pretty bad. I changed the wheels a few times, but finally I got a stuck bearing. While I was trying to fix the bag I broke the frame. I drove down to the factory and they gave me a great deal on a new bag.
