Luggage Works or Wal-Mart?

There used to be this bag at Target that was like $75 and came with a lifetime replacement if it broke. I've had it for like 6 years now and it's still going strong.

So because it's heavier than other bags it's automatically a POS? Yes, it's heavy, but it's built like a tank. You're right though, if I flew corporate, I probably wouldn't carry it with me any longer...

It's just this giant metal unwieldy thing that weighs 3X what my bag weighs. I understand that they will be around after the nuclear winter which is great if you fly for an airline that hires guys off the street to throw bags. It's just that normally I have a bit more tact than a bag monkey. If I smashed a bunch of PAX bags you'd bed your bum I'd be out of work ASAP. There is no reason to have one of those things if you are not an airline pilot is what I am saying. Unless you need a portable bunker.

So I definitely need a new bag. Here are some pictures of my current one. After numerous attempts at "repair", I've decided to throw in the towel.

As much as I made fun of the Costco bag, it does intrigue me. Mainly because for $55/yr, I can get a new one and have it look decent every year or two. Which long term, will be cheaper than the LW. Downside is the Costco is located fairly far away (20 minutes) from me. But I need a new one as the one I currently use is embarrassing. The Costco one is $100 and honestly that is about as cheap as they come, throw in the lifetime warranty and you are banging.

As a ramper... Ugh at those bags. I had a coworker have one fall on his foot, and it took the toenail right off. Of course they weren't wearing steel toes boots but that's because what ramper nowadays isn't contracted out and along with that isn't provided any uniform unless they pay for it. Anyways, I'm sure the LW bags work great, and I see them getting beat to crap constantly. I'd still never leave anything of value in it like a laptop

I dragged a Costco bag for about 7 years until the wheel bearings started grinding- I figured it was time to step up to the next level. I looked into LW, but wasn't quite ready to be assimilated! Someone had another bag that looked like a LW knock-off- after some research, I got one and love it. Everything is user replaceable and available on their website.

COOL! Thanks! Yeah- I will check them out. I like LW, but $300 is an entire paycheck in while I am in training!

Yeah It looks like a good deal, you can even buy a new "skin" for the frame. So unless the frame is bent out of control this thing should be a good investment.

Buy one and do a major overhaul every three to five years and you will be dollars ahead in the long run.

I have a Briggs and Riley bag that is 5 years old and is just starting to show wear. Not 5 years of continuous use mind you, but enough that lesser bags might have fallen apart. It's big enough to pack for five days, but getting it into overheads can be a challenge. About $400 new, but a lifetime, no questions asked warranty. Haven't had to use the warranty yet. Big downfall: Heavy even when nearly empty, but that contributes to the sturdiness I suppose. FWIW....

I even carry three pair. One for the uniform, one for layover and one pair for running.

Pet peeve with wearing running shoes with jeans when you're not running or working out. Just says "WHOOP WHOOP! I don't speak the local language so feel free to mug me" in some cities.

I guess I "technically" carry two pair because one is always on unless I'm doing Ju Jitstu kicking someone's ass.

I'm going to Korea next week. Thanks for the advice. I'm going to take an extra pair of shoes so I blend in.
