Luggage Works or Wal-Mart?

My walmart special lasted 2 months on the Beech 1900. It was quite humbling to double arm carry what became a clothes "basket" to the parking lot. I'm thankful for the extra weight of the LW. It's still functional even though it's so sad my dad busted out laughing when he saw it.

I've had my LW bag for 8.5 years. I've replaced a foam handle, one rollerblade wheel, and the small side pocket zipper.

I just bought the LW Stop Over Store edition... They have a nice "bundle" that gets you an executive stealth duffle bag too with a little discount ($320 total w/ free shipping, normally $335).

It shows up on Monday, after I've left for one last four day with my Costo bag with a broken top handle. :(

I've been a Costco guy for the last 7 years and I've gone through a few "replacements". I think they're great bags and a lot better than what you'd find at Wal-Mart and maybe even travelpro. That being said, the design has changed over the years and the current iteration no longer includes a bag holder at the top. I've been told that the new ones do have a bag holder, but it's behind the front zipper and that seems like too much of a hassle. Also, it seems that they are no longer available in the stores so you'd have to order online.

22"

If you get the big "international" bag, then you're adding in x% more probability of having to gate check it during commutes and deadheads.

I think I've done 14 out of my 22".

And I still end up bringing too much stuff!

Minimalism. Not just for Bohemian Bauhaus culture.
Unless you're a flight attendant. Then it's best to bring a 22" Walmart special, along with another 26" Costco brand just for your shoes. :)

I even carry three pair. One for the uniform, one for layover and one pair for running.

Pet peeve with wearing running shoes with jeans when you're not running or working out. Just says "WHOOP WHOOP! I don't speak the local language so feel free to mug me" in some cities.

I guess I "technically" carry two pair because one is always on unless I'm doing Ju Jitstu kicking someone's ass.

Honestly, I just wear my work shoes when I'm out on the road. Saves the trouble, but I almost never wear sneakers to begin with. :)

I know, you're a pilot! :)

Nothing says 'AMMA PILOT', besides announcing at every lady at a bar as a single corporate captain, like:

I realize it's easier to say buy LW when you aren't broke. But, as a professional pilot, each time you grab your LW bag for a trip, you will go out the door knowing that you have invested in you and your career and feel good about it. Dragging around a cheap $49 piece of luggage has the potential to lead you into believing that you are something less than the professional that you are. Never be afraid to invest in yourself. Save money elsewhere.

Or here's the "Detroiter", the spring through late fall typical A-330 pilot ensemble: Convertible pants and optional vest is it's chilly out in AMS or CDG:

Wow...

Uh....lmao.

I've had my LW 22" for almost 4 years. One zipper pull broke off, there are some small holes in the outer pockets that I rarely use, and I replaced the wheels once. About a year ago.

Solid. Heavy. Don't drop it on your foot or try to kick it with your shin. You will lose.

....and watch your fingers when you're letting the handle down.
