Loss of Separation Incident at JFK

Sheesh, one article said 200 feet. I hate the media

200 ft vertical, 1/2ish mile lateral. The 200 sounds better, so that's what the media is harping on. I mean, we're usually only 1000' apart. That can't be safe, right? And let's not tell them about PRM approaches. :)

Hell there are days when we've got five or six at the same speed flying parallel (slop) and stacked at various altitudes.

"Hey! Turn left and ill get a photo. Now get a photo of me..."

"Hey, do you jackwads have CPDLC? You're freaking out your dispatchers!"

"Both planes landed safely. Flyers at LaGuardia Airport were startled to hear of the near-miss. Gary Margolis recalled a similar experience in which "we had to land and take off again because we were a little too close to a plane on the runway."

"That's a scary thing to be on a plane when that happens," he said.
