Loss of Separation Incident at JFK

Close call between a Delta 747 and RAH 170. Within 200 feet of one another? Yikes that's close. My guess is that these incidents aren't uncommon in that area on any given day, some just happen on a slow news day. Would I be accurate in that assumption?

I saw 3,400 ft earlier, some reports are saying "within a mile" and one said "about half a mile."

200 ft vertical, 1/2ish mile lateral. The 200 sounds better, so that's what the media is harping on. I mean, we're usually only 1000' apart. That can't be safe, right? And let's not tell them about PRM approaches.
