Looks Like the Thunderbird's and Blue Angels are Scheduling Shows Again

Just not to Vets that you claim to so passionately support. You want to define "hypocrisy" again?

I am not sitting here saying they shouldn't get funding from the government when someone like @Nark is bitching about funding (from the same pot) going to social welfare programs.

Big difference.

I like the Blues and the T Birds because they make lots of noise, fly really close and make me feel good to watch them.
How to pay for crap doesn't even seem to be an issue anymore with our government. Hell, I think there should be a Blue Angels team in every State, and maybe six just in Texas.... Well, Maybe Rhode Island could share a team with Delaware.

I would rather fly the Blues than fund the oil sheiks or create new government agencies every few years that are worthless at best.

Do you have any gun camera footage you could share? :)

F-14, F-4 and the A-5 are the only jets the Navy flew. :)

It isn't a good expense when the 'fiscal conservatives', want to cut Obamacare and other social programs that help more taxpayers than people will see at an air show.

Sorry, I'm not playing your game. I don't know how and/or when your lumped me together with 'fiscal conservatives', but it's never that simple.

The flight demo teams are part of the military's recruiting budget, which is a critical part of maintaining our military. It can be debated exactly how much ROI the Navy gets from the Blue Angels, but NOBODY here (especially you) has accurate info to make sweeping statements that they are all a waste of money. They also have a very real, but intangible effect on the morale of the active duty military. In this regard they are like the USMC Silent Drill Team, the USS Constitution, various service bands, the Honor Guards at Arlington, and many other military units that do not directly contribute to operational readiness. However these units are some of the most vital parts of our military because they keep our military traditions and culture alive.

Shall we scrap the 220 year old sailing frigate USS Constitution, which is the oldest warship afloat? How about we replace the guards at the Tomb of the Unkowns with civilian contractors?

I've said it before, and I'll say it again Mark. Get off your ass and run for office if you don't like it instead of bitching about it on the internet.

Healthcare.gov has a marketing budget of $190 million. Maybe they can do some cross-promotion with the Blue Angels.

Man, I grew up around Miramar. If it weren't for the F14s coming into the break with their wings swept, and the Blue Angels putting on one hell of a show every year, I might be an accountant today!

We can sit here and argue over waste (and I agree to an extent), but c'mon people, can't we just enjoy something cool every once in a while?

How is that soapbox you are on?

You do understand that even @MikeD who I don't usually agree with see where I am coming from on this? Most American's don't give a rat's ass about the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds. They do care about putting food on the table, their health, and providing education for their family. $30,000,000 can provide a lot to those folks.

Most American's don't think it is 'cool'. They don't care about the Blue Angels or Thunderbirds. Only pilots think it is 'cool'.

Jumped into another thread only to find Seggy not knowing what the hell he's talking about...again.

Once again, if I don't know what I am talking about, then why does @MikeD see where I am coming from on this? Does he not know what he is talking about?

I think there is a happy medium. I think we should only have one demonstration team representing all services....the entire US military. Even with that, if we can't fund our combat units for the training and equipment they need first, then we shouldn't be announcing demo team schedules, which aren't cheap themselves. It's all about priorities. And while Congress is who I blame for the fiscal mismanagement, the Pentagon needs to get their priorities straight in spending the money they do have left.
