No, we call it the uniform.Bottom line. As a former colleague of mine used to say, "there is no such thing as a short sleeve dress shirt."

When it comes to the more interesting pilot stories, they usually had long sleeve shirts. Don't know if there's any correlation though.
I hate the idea of snagging something I shouldn’t snag up front with a long sleeve shirt.Only rubes wear short sleeves with a jacket.
I wear a long sleeve uniform shirt so the captain knows I'm a walking, talking, • canoe before I say a word.
This. Everyone one I’ve seen has been a top notch, first class nozzle. Wearing long sleeves gives the rest of us plenty of warning.
I actually wear long sleeves, mostly at the urging of my dermatologist, but yeah, also because of the • canoe thing.

I... never got the stigma of long sleeve shirt thing. I’ve heard it to the point where it’s more of a pilot meme at this point. I’ll out myself, I even had a captain say “at first I thought you were going to be one of THOSE guys when I saw the long sleeves.”
“Well... autopilot on. Pretty sure I can hold 10 degrees of pitch ok for the next 80 miles anyway.”I want to hand fly for you up to altitude. Just to show off how cool I am.
That's it, I'm going to handfly IAH MSY just to piss all of you off.“Well... autopilot on. Pretty sure I can hold 10 degrees of pitch ok for the next 80 miles anyway.”
Capt. Dr. His Excellency J.Train, J.D., LCA, or just "hey frakker"I actually wear long sleeves, mostly at the urging of my dermatologist, but yeah, also because of the • canoe thing.

Good for you. Occasionally I do, but I don’t feel like being able to babysit a perfectly trimmed out airplane equates to ability to not crash the airplane when the autopilot stops working.I handful through 18k feet, barring no abnormality/emergency/failure, or if FO looks like he/she overloaded. Occasionally I may go higher or less, it all depends on various factors (time of day, duty at that time, fatigue, etc).
Got real busy departing CLT today and what is my FO doing? Hand-flying to cruise. We’ve got dings and lights going off and I’m just trying to talk on the radio while figure out wtf is going on and he’s just over there flying in his little bubble world. Seemingly oblivious. I think I may have gotten a, “do you need help with that?”... But not once did he ask for or turn the autopilot onGood for you.
