Hi Folks:
Was planning on doing my long cross country for the commercial this past Thursday but canceled because of weather. Rescheduled for next thursday. I was planning on Islip to Pennsylvania's Venango Regional (FKL) back to Islip with a stop along the way back at Hazleton Municipal(HZL). Also, 2 NYC class B transitions. Any 'local knowledge' here? I have done the class B transition twice enroute to NJ, seemed pretty simple and controllers very helpful, but for some reason I was starting to get a little nervous the night before. Also, how are the mountains of central PA? What is the maximum winds aloft you would fly across them? Any help would be greaty appreciated. Thanks!

I went from KSCH in NY to KAGC on my Comm XC...

the mountains aren't bad at all, they're generally about 3,000 FT or so... as for winds? I don't know exact limits... just be wise of the wave at the tops... if you're 2000 ft above them you'll hardly notice...

You should fly from ISP to ELM (Elmira/Corning regional), they have a great air museum on the field as well as free, all you can eat soft serve ice cream in the FBO....

I was just up at FKL two weeks ago doing some T&G's to break the monotany a little bit. I couldn't give ya any advice though for the mountain's.. still waiting to cross those sometime !! I've heard the restaurant is supposed to be pretty good though.

Nice airport.. easy to spot !!
