You can send the books in and they will do it all for you for a fee. My buddy had 4000 hours to add in, they did it in a week and it was done perfectly.
Ok, that's actually pretty awesome.

I wonder if they'd do it in a custom way—for example, sorting out FAR 1.1 "cross-country" time from pt. 61 "cross-country", getting all the airplane attributes correct, etc.

But yeah, realistically speaking having more data is ALWAYS better than having le.. er.. fewer. Oh god, the grammar.

I think you can sort the 50nm XC stuff but I am not sure as I haven't had to care about doing that in years. I do know they set up all the aircraft profiles, performance parameters, and time columns for you, so all the right times are counted. If XC isn't automatically sorted, I am almost positive you can create a smart group to separate it. That is my favorite part about LogTen, you can create smart groups to tally anything you want, well that and iCloud sync are my two favorite things about LogTen. For instance, because of insurance, I need to track when I get 100 hours time in type in the new aircraft I am flying, so I just create a smart group, and it tracks that data automatically. And I can set the column to turn green when it reaches the mark that I want.

I did not know this. That's a fantastic service. I don't have that many, but even adding 300 flights was a pain. I imagine if you've got twice that it's worth it.

If I just buy the iPhone version without having a Mac desktop how would I be able print out my times? Just email it to myself?

Awesome, so as long as I don't care about working on a small screen I can just pay 30 bucks for the iPhone version instead of 80 for the Mac version?

I have the iPhone and Mac version. I've never printed anything from the phone, I've just seen how you would go about doing it. The biggest thing about the Mac version is having the ability to do things more quickly. Outside of that, I can't really think of any major differences. It's an amazing piece of software, especially if you currently do airline flying. I purchased it as a CFI and have never looked back.

just gonna leave this description here.......

But in all seriousness, I was unaware you could email it to yourself and print from the iphone. This definitely just won me over to finally purchase.
