Logging landings...

didnt they change the rule for landings for cross country? It was from thoes B-2 bomber guys that would fly to the other side of the world, drop bombs then head back to the states, and at the time they couldnt log it as X-country. . . but I think they have changed that now. . .
Also, what happens if something happens to the Chief pilot while in flight and you need to land? Shouldnt you be in practice for landing in case something happens? Sounds like the guy needs to think outside the box a bit!

Isnt that why you are there?!?!?!?! JERK!!!
What you are thinking about is logging x/c time and there being a requirement in part 61 that a cross country involves a landing. Which is true for except for x/c time to meet the flight experience requirements for an ATP certificate. While most of the cross country time required for certificates and ratings is 50nm with a landing, the ATP requirements are just 50nm.

If your acting as SIC on a jet and the captain does the approach, can you as SIC, log the approach since your an acting crew member or do you actually have to be the one at the controls?
