Hey everybody. If you've ever considered putting your logbook in electronic form, check it out. Also, if you decide you like it and want to buy, they have a very cool incentive called Refer-a-Friend, which gets you $10 credit for anybody that uses your code. My code is at the bottom if you decide to buy, and I thank you in advance if you do use it! Hopefully, 7 other pilots will use my code. Again, thanks!

NC Software Logboo Pro http://www.logbookpro.com

Flight log software enables automated data entry, powerful data analysis, and professional reporting
Logbook Pro tracks certificates, ratings, medicals, flight reviews, currencies, and issues alerts
Pilot records made easy with two data entry styles for ease of use
Import existing flight log data easily with the included Import Wizard
Synchronize multiple computers with our synchronizing technology
FAR 121 Popup Status Indicator
Logbook Pro also includes pilot logbook software for Palm and Pocket PC devices

Electronic pilot logbook that you can cut and dice. It'll even tell you if you are current! I bought it a couple of months ago to help me add-up flight hours when answering specific pilot job application questions. It's great! Downloads online. No waiting for shipping. You start using it immediately. They let you review it with a 50 entry limit before buying.

If you are career pilot oriented, Logbook Pro takes the nightmare out of figuring out, line by line, entry by entry, green box by green box, the job application questions thrown at you from prospective employers regarding your flight time. For example, one regional airline wanted total multi-engine pilot-in-command (PIC) time, but did not want my flight instructor PIC time in multi-engine. Huh?! I don't know about you, but my paper-bound Jeppesen Professional Pilot Logbook doesn't separate it. Talk about a headache. It was that particular question which made me throw up my hands and shop for logbook software. With Logbook Pro, you dice it up any way you want. If a prospective employer wants to know how many hours PIC you have flown aerobatic in a Grob 103 sailplane between March 5, 2000 and July 23, 2003, then all you have to do is pick the parameters and let the software kick out the numbers for you. Clic, click, click, and you're done. I tried doing it with pen and calculator prior to buying the Logbook Pro program. Impossible. Have you done some pilot job applications? There are very specific items that the paper-bound logbook didn't have little green boxes for...

If you're not career pilot oriented and just fly for leisure/pleasure, it's a perfect way to back-up your paper logbook. There are too many horror stories about good pilots that had their logbooks lost or stolen and the nightmare of trying to recover the information. You simply save a backup to a disc and toss the disc in your car, work desk, safety deposit box, dog house, whatever. It also makes buying renter's and owner's insurance easy since the insurance questionnaire asks a bunch of specific logbook questions.

If you decide to buy, here's my promotional code and the email that NC Software will send to you if you sign up for Refer-a-Friend. Thanks! If 7 people buy it using the my Refer-a-Friend, then I'm basically using it for free. You can do the same! Kinda cool, eh?! Now, if only the fuel truck would implement the same program...

not directed at you mgd,

so call me a hick but with all this talk of electronic logbooks and such, I wonder since when did these suddenly become "uncool" and obsolete?

last time i checked you didnt have to worry about a memory failure, hard disk crash, server crash, electicity failure, or evil hackers if you use the paper variety.

BTW the best logbook ever created is right here - Stafford Senior Logbook

if it flys it has a column in this logbook

The very reason we don't use long hand math anymore. Waste of time!

Montana-

Wait until you have 1000+ hrs., and you need to find out how many ILS approaches to 1R at IAD you've done. Or how many hours of complex aircraft instruction you gave Joe Schmoe. Or how many hours you have in N12345 vs. N54321. Or how many night landings you've done in a certain type of aircraft. Get my drift?
wink.gif

I can do that in a few clicks with LogbookPro, but it would take me an hour to sift through my paper logbooks to find it. I still keep paper logbooks, but LogbookPro is awesome for really keeping track of your hours. Plus its great if you're still going through checkrides for certificates and ratings pretty routinely- it'll fill out the "hours section" of an 8710 with the click of a button.

I said this in the other log book post and I'l say it here. Check out LogShare.com . It seems to be pretty much the same thing and it's free.

Logbook Pro is great. I also keep a paper log, but as mentioned when it comes time to figure out currency, do an 8710, or compute times for company or resume reasons an electronic logbook is 1000X better than paper.

Montana? Hmmm. There's a Shawn I know that drives a big silver Dodge...

Did you read the post? Nobody suggesting the paper book be put away. As far as hackers and such, you back it up on a floppy or CD. Anyway, the point is that this here computer yer usin' can be a lifesaver if you put your logbook on it. Kinda like GPS vs NDB. If you're comfortable with NDB's, that's fine, keep using them. But, give GPS a whirl sometime.

Yessirree! Shawn is kickin' butt out in Vegas with ATP. We ATP'd as students together, then ATP'd as flight instructors together. He's passed the 1000 hour mark, mostly all multi-engine since he's been a Seminole driver. Pretty good given the fact he was basically a 100 hour private ASEL this time last year. Go Mountain Man, go!

I got a used Palm 505 and am now in the process of trying out three trial logbooks that are syncable with my desktop. The Pilots Little Red Book by www.v1rotate.com ($24.95 ), Flight Log ($24.50 ), Airline Logbook www.airlinelogbook.com ($60) and Logbook Pro ($60-$130 depending on the program).

Logbook Pro is supposed to be pretty good, but I am not sold on the high price. (It's an extra $30 for the PDA license alone.) For a simple logbook, the Little Red Book does fine. Don't really like the format of the FlightLog program in comparision. They all give free trials, so you can check them all out.

At present, I think I will go with the Airline Logbook software for $60. It cheaper than the Logbook Pro and it has an airline schedule importer, so I can send my scheduled trips into my PDA via their Schedule Importer when I hot sync. Now that is cool and I don't have to enter all the flights manually like the others. (If you already have Logbook Pro, seems their importer works with that too. You just have to buy the Airline Pilot's Daily Aviation Logbook software.)

Airline Pilot's Daily Aviation Logbook for the Palm OS

"Track scheduled and actual flight times in any time zones. Organize aircraft, crew changes, delay, and mechanical information for each flight. Calculate FAR 121 duty limitations and evaluate FAR 121 rest requirements. Manage your monthly schedule and datebook from your Palm Pilot. Stay on-time with our alarm clock and be alerted for duty, rest, and contractual limitations. Utilize our online Schedule Importer to HotSync your airline's trip pairings from PDF bidline files, company website, or the internet to your Palm Pilot. Analyze your payroll, flight time, expenses, and on-time performance for any date range. Keep track of your actual expenses. Calculate CONUS/OCONUS and IRS ME&I rates to evaluate the best deduction for your expenses. Generate flight time, crew rest, and expense reports online. Export data directly to Logbook Pro via our Web Services"

I'm a big proponent of Logbook Pro. It's a well made, bug-free well designed piece of software that is powerful/fleible to handle any needs but simple enough to start out in one night.

I put the chunk stamp of approval on it! Not sure that'll help around here, though!

HOLY CRAP!! Chunk.... you lost, bro?????

Welcome to the "G-E-N-E-R-A-L Section" Now that you're here, have a look around and post at will.
