Live Webcast of 3407 sunshine hearing

Did they ever figure out what the cause of the initial aircraft upset was? I haven't been able to find it anywhere on the web

They had power pulled back to idle on the descent, got configured, and did not add power once level at ~2100ft. With gear and flaps out in level flight the plane slowed quickly.

Live NTSB Webcast about 3407

Watching the final report on 3407 - NTSB has it as a live webcast.

Pretty tough report so far.................

Again - RIP to all..

don't know how to post link, but just go to ntsb.com and it'll show up.

i'm glad that the fact that dispatch releases contain too much of innaccurate information such as hundreds of notams, and is missing important information such as area reports.

So from what I understand, the fact the aircraft was in icing conditions had nothing to do with the end result?

It seem like it started when the FO acting as pilot monitoring didnt make a callout (I'm assuming Colgan's SOPs have something about making a callout when the autopilot goes from a V/S, SPD, or PITCH mode to an altitude capture mode - ASA has an 'ALTS CAP' callout.)

Pinnacle/Colgan the PM does not make any callouts except for perhaps "x for y" when approaching an altitude. All FMA callouts are the responsibility of the PF.

Re: Live NTSB Webcast about 3407

What did they have to say about that? wasnt able to listen.

Basically that the NTSB has the same dim view of PFJ as the peanut gallery here.

Also interesting, from one of the Colgan checkride busts, was for being more than 10kts under Vref on an ILS.
