Lightspeed Zulu 2 or Bose X?

I've heard OK things about the S1. I've also heard that some people think it didn't live up to the hype and still consider the A20 or Zulu.2 much better. I haven't tried any of them but looking to get one soon!

I've heard if you ask lightspeed if they will match the bose 0% 12 months... they will.... can't back it up, but it's always worth a try. Otherwise for starving CFI's the A20 may be the best option because it breaks up the rough $1000-1200 nut into 90 bucks a month, no fees

I just put this review on sporty's website for the Zulu 2 headset, so I figured i would post it here as well.
Pros
This is a very comfortable headset. The noise cancellation is great. For single engine aircraft like cessna's and pipers it makes it super comfortable to fly. Makes it sound like you are riding in a car.
Cons
The only downside, but this is really true with any anr headset is the cups have to be fully seated to the side of your head to work to their full noise reducing capacity. Sunglasses do let some noise in, but i bet if you have a pair of aviator style or something with very small and thin arms this would be a non issue. Overall this is a very minor con.
General Comments
I have really enjoyed using this headset so far. I bought both the Bose A20 and the Zulu 2 at the same time to try them both out. They both seem to have the same noise canceling, really couldnt notice a difference. Zulu had a bit more noise reduction without the ANR on, compared to the bose. I prefered the Zulu headset because it was a little more comfortable to me, it was a lot less $$$, and it came with bluetooth. A20 comes with bluetooth - for $300 more....

Overall, they are both very nice headsets, I just liked the way the zulu felt and sounded better. One last side note, and it could have just been a fluke, but my A20 headset would take a split second to pick up what you were saying, almost like the squelch was to low. I know it wasn't the airplane squelch because i tried both headsets back to back at the same time. This sounds really minor, but every time you are trying to say something, the first little part of what your saying is cut off and it kind of "pops" in when you start talking. It really bugged me after a very short time.

Conclusion: I sent the bose back, mainly because they were more expensive, and i just didn't feel they were built as well as the zulu's. This say's a lot because I really wanted to like the bose more since they are made in the USA, but I just didn't think they were as nice.

I've had my A20s for a year now and they still amaze me at how well they reduce the sound in the cockpit. I've had ANR headsets for years but the A20 blows me away with how full spectrum its noise reduction is. That was an important feature to me.
Some planes I fly produce more low frequency noise, Other planes produce more higher frequency, it didn't seem to matter to the Bose, it was just as effective dealing with both.

I got the bluetooth set, although I almost never use it and most planes I fly have AUX plug ins for music. I've been pretty pleased so far and wearing them day in and day out I can't think of anything to complain about.

I've had my Zulu 1s for a year now. They are fantastic. Tried the A20s. I found that the Bose had higher clamping pressure and the ear seals rubbed my ears raw after a bit.

Plus the Zulus had bluetooth phone AND music. The Bose only had BT for the phone, and that was extra green. BT audio is fantastic... I can call the 1-800 clearance line, and it comes through clear as a bell. Music quality is excellent. The BT is great, because after headsets, hat, sunglasses and the O2 cannula, the last thing I need is another wire.

The only gotcha is that if you use your iPhone/iPad to stream music over BT, better have a power source, as it will roast the battery in short order. That can be a real drag if you keep your charts on your device.

I looked into the the Quiet Technologies' Halo..pretty interesting. I'm tempted to sacrifice the $350 and give em' a whirl.

I apologize for bringing back an old topic firstly.

Can I just clarify with you guys whether the Bluetooth function is really worth the extra $100?

They aren't TSO'd, but I just sold my Bose X's and used the money towards buying the new Sennheiser S1. This thing is awesome. It's got bluetooth connectivity, and you can actually press a button on the side of the headset, and it will re-adjust active ANR to suit the changing sound environment.

Also, you can set the clamp pressure to suit your needs and the audio quality is fantastic.
