Lightspeed L1's

Those look IDENTICAL to the L1's. Weird because if they are, they are $75 cheaper through that site. I should call and ask about the similarity and maybe if they are made by Lightspeed but repackaged and sold under a different name.

EDIT: Wow, after reading their manual and looking at more pictures they look like a blend of the Lightspeeds and Clarity's. They use the same foam tips as the Clarity's, but they still have that black box that the L1's have.

Nope, the Auricom by Quiet Technologies was on the market long before Lightspeed came out with their version. If anything, I expect Lightpeed is selling QT's design under liscense.

I became aware of the Auricom through an article in Aviation Consumer at least a 1.5 years ago.

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

The L1s are bought from Auricomm and then get a cellphone/music interface and a choice fo different ear pieces... but they are basically the same thing.

Mine will be here thursday... I won't get to fly with them until saturday though...

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

Hey Iowapilot, have you seen these. They don't seem to have that little black box that's causing all your problems. Not available till Sept., though.

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

No, but thanks a lot for the pic. When I ordered the L1's, the guy on the phone strongly suggested I wait for the Mach 1's. They just debuted at Oshkosh, but the September release might be a little far away. My other lightspeeds are already up on eBay with a couple of days left...

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

I have had mine for about a week, and love them! No more sweaty head/ears. I don't seem to have the same problem w/ the box on earbud, but then again, I guess I don't push them into my ear that far. The Mach 1 does look pretty cool but it makes me wonder if they have improved it enough to warrant a wait, and another $100. I don't think I will ever go back to DC's or any other over the ear headsets.

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

Got mine in yesterday and they seem good so far, but I haven't flown with them yet.

That'll come on saturday. They seem to be very comfortable and can't wait to NOT have headset head and sweaty ears after flights anymore.

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

I'm glad you guys like them so far. I got my Clarity Aloft set today and flew with it this afternoon for .4 to try them out. I think they're great. Extremely comfortable with noise reduction that is comparable to David Clarks. They claim to have noise reduction similar to ANR, but I wouldn't go that far.

Overall though, I am extremely happy with the Clarity's and would recommend them to anyone that asked (these kind of product opinions are always subject to change over the long haul).

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

Made a Bahamas Run today with the L1s and...

They are going back to the company tomorrow. They'll be inthe mail and GONE!

Instead of hurting the outside ofyour ears like othe rheadsets, these hurt the INSIDE of my ears... 9 hours in a plane with these things crammed in your ears sucks.

And to boot, the Mike won't stay where you put it.. had to grab it and hold it up evertime I wanted to talk...

Now, since I sold my old headset already (dumb move on my part), I have to get a new set of SOMETHING?

Yeesh!

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

Grabo, give those Clarity's a try. I JUST got back from doing my IPC and they were awesome. The two fatal flaws of those L1's are the tips they chose and the boxes, imo.

In the past, I have had a pretty severe headache and major fatigue, especially after an instrument flight. Right now I feel pretty darn good. The tips on the Clarity's are SO comfortable. If you do a little research, you will find out that some brands or types of hearing aids use the Comply Canal tips. They are a bit expensive to replace, but I imagine they will last a little longer than the company says if you aren't pulling them in and out 10 times a day and you don't have nasty @$$ ears.

EDIT: Also, the Clarity mic is bendable unlike the Lightspeed mic boom.

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

Saw those, but I think I'll stick with the conventional headsets for now... my inner ears are STILL in pain almost 4 hours after I landed...

I just ordered a DC H20-10 set... Saved a hundred dollars. So I shipped them here next day mail so they should be here tuesday. I'll have to fly with my wife's headset for tomorrow's flight, but should be in the new ones by my tuesday's.

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

I know what you mean with the pain. I had that after 2 hours of fiddling on the couch. Hope you didnt try the plastic plugs. I'm not kidding when I say I didn't think they were coming out.

Re: Lightspeed L1\'s

I just inserted them once to see if they felt better... and had to get a pair of pliers to get them out...
