36 Days into the program at RAL, and today Im starting XCs.

Woke up at 650, took a shower, called dispatch "your flying with XXXX to SAC in 721CK. Give me a call when your filed, fueled and ready to go"

So I show up at 735, my partner and I quickly knock out a flight plan, he goes to file and we are then told that the aircraft has a dead battery. Sure enough I go out to the plane and nothing even comes on with the battery master. So I call dispatch and they say "we will notify MX." So now its a waiting game.

Welcome to the life :D

EEWWWWW... not the chicken killer!!!!!

If you want to get on dispatch's good side, call them at around 0530 and be ready at the plane no later than 0630. That way you might be able to pull off three legs, which in turn means you might start the trek eastbound (which means no more Riverside for about a week). Those SAC and backs get real boring real quick.

Who are you flying with?

The best part about flying chicken killer(I've got around 12 hours in her) is that it's such a pos plane, and if you complain about it being a pos plane to robert @ JAX, he takes offense - it's like his wife lol.

Yeah, everything busts in that plane, the best part is how it will roll inverted if ya let her get away from ya, gotta keep her in check!:panic:
 
Well we finally made it to SAC then dispatch sends us up to Salem to overnight. Sitting in the bar now. We will see what happens tomorrow.

Somehow, Riverside just cant seem to get rid of chicken killer. It finds its way up to SAC or Phoenix, but it invariably it comes back to RAL!

Lets hope they don't send you out to SAC and back 6 times like they did with me! X/C's were definitely great times though. Have fun while it lasts, because you know whats comin' right afterwards: CFI School Las Vegas! Wahooo!

Bring Frank some valium drip.... anybody find out who stole his carport sign yet?

That's because RAL is a maintenance base!!! YUM YUM.....
 
This morning we are taking 216FW to SAC, which is the only place we can go. Hopefully we will go to Riverside after that as I realized i forgot a few minor things.

Haha, I loved Chicken Killer!! Only plane there I almost had to shut an engine down on after a prop overspeed. It takes a lickin' and keeps on tickin'...

Oh, so your the one that always put full rudder trim on that plane and fly uncoordinated cause you was to lazy to hold pressure on the yoke to keep the plane from banking. :D

I swear everytime I got in that plane, someone before me had the rudder trim all the way to one side. :crazy:
 
Chicken killer isnt that bad. Some of the others are worse....

Called this morning and its a day off. Going to try and finish my comm and foi writtens. I have been procrastinating, but once you start your xcs you realize time is short.

when are you going east???
Make sure you get on dispatch about that. They sometimes "forget" how often they send people to sac and back.

Exactly. Case in point: ME! Sac and back 6 or 8 times - i forget how many times I went up there now. Anyway, on my last trip up there, dispatch tell me, "uhhh... yea we werent tracking how many times you were going up there. We dont have enough hours to have you x/c out to the east cost for the jetride. They ended up airline'ing me and my flying partner out to jax for the jetride, and we were able to seminole it back to riverside. Turned out ok.

Hey Ken, hows CFI school?
