Life at Compass

that picture is hilarious.......

in other news, i'm 90ish away from upgrade and still have to get ~380 hours.....and i just finished ioe in Jan.....sure wasn't expecting to be that close that fast.

I think they might be short by 2-3 months or so. Mid January class probably finished ioe mid April so I would assume they have 800 or so hours. I was a March hire and have 650 or so. Only working 60 hours this month hasn't helped but the vacation was fun.
Pretty spot on, 1/2/14 hire here and will need to bypass till probably a late May or early June class. 800 now.

In the finest pilot tradition I've been working as little as humanly possible.

Gonna be at least June for me.

4,500 hours as PIC and not one of them counts toward upgrade under the new rules. It's all good though: LAX RSV CA no gracias.

So since everyone is taking place in the Great Migration out to LAX, does any one have any info on crashpads that aren't full? I'd rather not pony up for hotels.

Feel free to PM me.

Do you guys think quick upgrade ship at Compass has sailed?
If one were to start class in March or April of this year, how long of an upgrade would you estimate? I know things change all the time. Just want your opinion.

Thanks

I have zero. I know I need 1000. Do you think needing only minimum to upgrade wi hold for next couple years?

If Compass is only hiring for attrition going forward, upgrade maybe much longer, right?

Thank you

It will take you atleast a year and a half to get that and with that seniority date you will be a senior FO the whole time. Upgrade has never been more than 3 years here and we had very little to no attrition until last year because of the flow. There will be a good amount of attrition going forward regardless of flow.

Much shorter than most other regionals.

Are there a lot of guys that are able to commute? It seems like with a 5/2 schedule it wouldn't really be all that feasible unless you wanted to pretty much have no days off.

98% of FA in lax don't commute because Compass did a recruiting event in LAX. It seems like 95% of pilots commute to LAX. Everyone has a different situation and home so preferences on 3, 4, or 5 day trips vary. I bid to have no less than 3 days off between works blocks, and do 4, or 5 day trips and get it every time.

Lot's of guys bid the 5 day pairings which allows a good chunk of time off in between trips. I actually live in (from here too!) and was awarded 2, 5 day trips next month but have 4 and 5 days off between the respectively. Once you get senior, many guys bid 3 5 days a month and call it a day. I have a buddy that bid 10 day trips, 76hrs credit, 20 days off. He's junior to me, probably 25% in base.

Not bad at all.
