Life at Compass

FAA supersedes the contract, so... Regardless of what that says, the FAA is boss and contracts are made to be broken.

Yes and no. Just because the FAA signs off on something doesn't mean it's contractually permissible.

But as the squirrel (or whatever the hell that thing is) points out, we'd need an approved training program.

Let's not borrow trouble right now. A lot of things have to come into place in order for that to come true. Remember that every decision has a consequence, good or bad, and there are enough checks and balances (ALPA) to help mitigate these concerns.

I'm just wondering about what happens when the company can't staff the flying they've signed up for. And its not because we can't recruit enough pilots, it's because the training footprint is so long, and terribly unorganized and inefficient, that the pilots we need to hit the line are being delayed to the point there might be a staffing issue in the near future. So if the company can bring in street captains and get them on the line faster, they could keep the FO's in their seats (paid in accordance with the contract). But at least they wouldn't have a staffing issue. I think that's something that could happen but is pretty unrealistic. But... Stranger things have happened.

They are a long way from that one. Captains are not the issue for training right now either.

In for them letting us bring all mil pic time over to upgrade instead of just 500!

I'm on FIRE today :). Kidding aside, is there any more rumors if they will get any AS or DAL flying in Ak?

That's is exactly my point. It's easier to get captains out there than it is to get butts in the right seat.
Street Captains must go through full induce and the full footprint that a First Officer does. The Captains you see go through now are doing the FAA approved reduced upgrade footprint.
