I know.
I am livid at @amorris311 for thinking differently.

The skillset to go from one glass cockpit airliner to another glass cockpit airliner is more similar however.
When Atlas was transitioning from the classic to the 400, they wouldn't hire anyone without FMS and glass time for just that reason.
Not true.
Well...it was very favored, how about that? No absolutes are ever true in aviation.
There's a reason the PAQ still asks about "glass FMS" time.
When e-mailing the PAC, should I put some flowery cover letter kind of message in the e-mail, or does that not get looked at?
When I submitted mine, I sent a cover letter as well. Although, I don't believe they're looked at until the interview. That said, I think it was largely a waste of time sending it w/ the PAC. So, I doubt there is any advantage to sending one w/ the PAC vs. just waiting to have it ready to go during the interview. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think it matters either way.
How does the base/gateway thing work?
Yes you are free to move somewhere nicer. ;-)I guess an easier question to ask is if I'd have to move out of the Boston area.
You have a base. They buy you a ticket from an airport close to you, your gateway, to your base. This time spent is not considered work or duty

So my base is assigned, or bid for, but I can pick my gateway? Not a bad deal, I guess.
I actually live in NH, but it's easier to say "Boston area".
Thanks for the info.
Yes, normal airline base bidding.
Probably can fly out of NH.
Thanks. Write me a letter of recommendation, I'll send you naked pics of my wife in exchange.
Already have them, but thanks for the offer!
