Laser idiot caught

No these are guys building kits off the internet and so forth. They are way over any maximum spec for federal limits, high wattage. Some might mount the thing to a tripod. I'd like to see police helos blast back at them with those new sonar wave weapons that make you crap your pants in pain when aimed at you. Greatest less than lethal weapon ever.

I have an idea for a Wild Weasel Cessna. :)

There are cheap solutions for preventing photography of stuff that work by aligning the field of view of a camera and a projector, then the projector illuminates only the spot where it thinks there is a camera, preventing any useful photography).

A little more evolution with some off-the-shelf image processing software could allow an aircraft to continuously spotlight the source of a laser emission aimed at it ... maybe in the infrared if you don't want to run 'em off before the beatdown squad shows up.

Where do I submit my paperwork? :)

I like it. Doesn't run ridiculous ground delay programs whenever there's a raindrop. When I used to fly in and out of BOS they'd go into a 2 hour delay whenever the weather would be less than 2000' ceilings.

Yeah, I loved flight instructing out of there. Good controllers and having 15L/33R makes it a very prop friendly airport.

They even would let me go up and do touch and goes in the pattern. I would call them on the phone first to ask if they would mind and never got anything short of "absolutely! Come on up!"

Never been "lasered" (pretty sure that word always has to be in quotation marks), but the crew of a UPS jet I was flying on was once. They were pretty pissed about it, I was asleep in the back.

Glad they got caught, I've never been hit with one but once departing ADS tower informed me that the plane ahead of me had reported being hit.

Good to know, there are SO many residential areas under the arrival end of 15. Plenty of places to hide.

Good that they got the offender.
I also think it's funny that everyone gets busted by lighting up the police helicopter. Good idea.
Yeah, probably not the best way to avoid getting caught.
