KELP closed… for 10 days

I mean....it's ABQ. You're just lucky when you wake up the next day and the rental car itself is even still there to begin with let alone your belongings.
ABQ (the airport itself) always cracks me up. “Hey guys, we have miles and miles of open, flat land. Where do you wanna put the airport?”
“How about RIGHT next to those mountains over there?”

Gazillions of square miles of restricted and prohibited areas and the military still insists on playing near civilian airports.
Because…

It’s the Department of WARRRRRRRRRER!

Yeah, plenty of space out where the class D airport northwest of town is. There's a lot of residential sprawl up that way now, but that's more of a fairly recent addition. North and south of the city is constrained by a couple of reservations though hence the lack of any kind of development in those directions.

KELP is ~38 NM NW of the TFR by Acala-Fort Hancock-McNary TFR and V66 passes ~23 NM north.

I don’t know a whole lot about lot about these laser system, but I suspect they have to have ranging information to focus a beam at a specific distance. So my default instinct is that damage from “stray shots” are not really a thing; there could have to be a targeting error.

Still, I wouldn’t want my eyes to be 10 NM behind a target in the line without more information about the energy & wavelengths.
