I'll call Airtran "tranny", chataqua "chicken taco", but it's all in good fun. Dickyard and a few of the others mentioned are pretty unprofessional.

Here's a twist on the concept.
I was in ORD the other day, and according to a few pilots in the crew room, it's ATC taking a poke at a new rival.
Eagle pilots have long tenure in ORD and many have personal friendships and relationships with the Tower types. While, minus a minority of idiots here and there, Eagle pilots have been nice to the newly arrived American Connection fliers, the ATC contingent has been slyly taking pokes at them.
Allegedly, in a somewhat blatant, obvious tone, Chatauqua is being mis-pronounced as "Sh**tauqua".
I know the Connection pilots aren't entirely thrilled to be in ORD and the Eagle pilots aren't really thrilled to see them there, but the fact that ATC is broadcasting this negativity seems largely inappropriate.
So normally I would not make a stink about this. But recently in CLT there has been a larger amount of Air Wisconsin crews in and out of CLT..... Today was the second time, in a 2 day period I heard the same pilot get placed behind Brickyard (Republic). And for the second day in a row, when asked by tower if they had the "EMB170 in sight" the response was, "Dickyard, I mean Brickyard in sight." Regardless of how we feel towards a group, we should remember on a frequency such as those monitored by the FAA and in general we should keep it professional.... I just found it really shocking to hear it for a 2nd day in a row.... And what appeared to be the same pilot..... My jaw actually dropped as I looked at the Captain and he just gave me a nod as to say, "Yes he did just say that."
Ok rant over....
ps... I'm sure people at my airline have done the same.... By no means am I saying this is one particular airline....

Well as long as it isn't non stop service to Jefferson City right? Sheesh.
I heard this from an ASA guy just yesterday waiting on our gate.
Ground: "give way to the blue tailed ERJ then taxi to the gate"
ASA: "give way to Shiiiiiitaqua and then to the gate"
I laughed and the CA didn't pick up on it but its just humorous that some of these guys really think anyone cares. Then I called him Gaycy. I kid I kid but really do people really go home and sleep better because they called someone a witty derogatory call sign? "Yeah I got them good I called Shiiiiiitaqua hahahahah they're hurting now!!"
Hmm, I'll go out on a limb and say that with my combo Wisconsin/Chicago accent when I say "Chautauqua" it starts with a "sh" sound and ends "itaqua". Not any insult meant, it's the accent.

It started off flying into MSP...
The latest one was originating out of LIT...
Little odd, don't you think?
You make yourself and you airline look bad saying things like this.
... I also know my Beagle brethren well, and I wouldn't put it past them to rattle the cages of their believed tormentors, even by proxy. It bears examination.
:laff: Yeah, give some of those guys a can of gas, and they'll go looking for a fire to throw it on.
I suppose it's pretty obvious with the extended "iiiit" or a pause between the first two syllables.
People are always telling me I talk funny no matter what I say...![]()
If that's the case I hate to see what my landings make me look like!
