KCM

I belong to IBT 1224

So you're a freeloader?

Another viewpoint. I used to work at an ALPA airline. I left. But after leaving, I still pay the yearly fee so I can keep getting that wonderful magazine and the insurances. So I'm not at an ALPA carrier anymore, but pay the yearly fee. Still a freeloader?

Nope... I'm not a freeloader because A) I was an ALPA pilot during the time KCM was being put together and B) my current carrier doesn't have KCM. We go through the normal security lines as we should.

That's wonderful. I was at an ALPA carrier as well when KCM was being put together. In fact, my airline at the time was one of the ones in the testing program (thus it's pilots i.e. me, had access to KCM long before most other pilots did). That's great that you're not a free loader because YOUR carrier doesn't have KCM. A few IBT 1224 airlines/pilots do have access to KCM. Maybe your day is coming next year? Would you be a freeloader then? Are your current union brothers freeloaders?

You literally spent more on dad jeans and white sneakers… last week, sir. :)

And you can write it off!

One of us. One of us.

Folks are getting a service for free that I (and other ALPA members) paid for. What is the incentive for folks to start paying into the cause if they get the benefits for free?

And what about the IBT? The IPA? APA? SWAPA? Are they not supporting the profession? Do they not deserve to use it?

Do you really think that they can just increase or lower dues on a whim because of one program? There is a finite amount of money and last I checked, the IBT and/or RAH didn't put the resources to try to get it implemented, improved like we are seeing here, or lobby to make sure this type of program is protected.

ALPA did the heavy lifting. Your company is just paying an administrative fee for the servers.

Did ALPA invite IBT, APA, et al to help with the lifting?

You're doing more than just that.

No he's not. More than a couple people in this thread have said that it should only be for ALPA members. He's asking a legit question. However, I'm 99% sure I know the answer to that question

Nothing at all. In fact, the more people in the pool that pays admin fees, the less those fees are for everybody. Of course there is some risk to the security of the program as it's possible that somebody might slip through, but if the DHS thinks it's safe to add in the GA population, then I'm cool with it.

My truck has much more to do with 121 groups who should be unionized not contributing to the effort to getting programs like this off the ground in the first place. GA has benefitted from safety and other advancements driven by the airlines for years, and I don't see that changing any time soon, nor see a reason it should.
