KCM

Wait…

Hold on.

IS THIS NOT THE INTERNET? :)

I know, I know. I'm sorry...I couldn't resist.

Well, Seggy's point is that non-ALPA pilots ARE enjoying the benefits--KCM, in this case--without having helped make it happen.

It's kinda the same way I feel about my gf's adult children living under our roof rent-free. All the benefits for none of the burden.
Of course that's his point and it was mine as well, but beyond KCM.

Why buy the cow if you get the milk for free?

I'm with Seggy on this topic... if you don't pay for something you shouldn't reap the benefits/rewards. Why should SKW pilots or any other pilot group who did not/does not contribute benefit from an ALPA funded venture? Seems pretty clear cut to me.

I can agree with that. But at the same time shouldn't ALPA be trying to make things better for ALL pilots? I don't know, that's just the nice guy talking.

That's what ALPA is doing, and what Seggy said he would do in the end... but that doesn't come with out begrudging the fact that those who contributed nothing to the process are benefiting from it.

Me behind a herd of cart mules after hearing them cluck about...anything... at 0500:

The thing that I thought was shady is the KCM badge at XJT says something like Powered by A4A and ALPA, well one day I'm commuting next to a SkyWest guy and catch a glimpse of his badge, just said Powered by A4A......come on now! Lies and deceit i tell ya

So what do you suppose non-union airlines do then with KCM? In this case, the way I see it, it's unavoidable that everyone gets to benefit from something ALPA accomplished...

I just can't help but feel this is a somewhat selfish outlook. I'm kind of in the dark about some of these things, but is ALPA still carrying the financial burden of KCM? Do participating companies not pay to use the service?

I mean if ALPA is single highhandedly paying to keep the service running I can see your point...but if that's not the case that just smells of not being able to share your toys. Something I learned to do long ago.

All I know is, the first time some schmuck pilot or FA rolls through KCM in a Hawaiian shirt, cargo shorts, and flip flops and ruins it for the rest of us, I'm going to be pissed!

Why does everybody bother with the passport? Your drivers license is in your pocket... I don't get it.
Bc the passport is in my shirt pocket. Some of us leave the country once in awhile :). Just taking the jab before y'all take over all the intl flying too.

Folks are getting a service for free that I (and other ALPA members) paid for. What is the incentive for folks to start paying into the cause if they get the benefits for free?
Many thanks to you and your brethren. I appreciated it this morning as I slipped by the Atlas fa crew who were going through normal security.

No it is not. Folks are getting something for free while ALPA member's had to pay for it.
I beg to differ. Did your union dues increase as a result of this program?
We at RAH were kicked out of the program when ALPA switched from the proprietor to the TSA, because TSA said we want money for it. RAH capitulated and is funding it for our crews. (Aug of '12 I think)

Don't give us this crap that it's ALPA alone funding the program.

ALPA got the ball rolling and worked out the kinks, and I'm grateful, but for one second, can you stop drinking the kool-aid?
