I’m not saying this from a personal situation, or in regards to the individual mentioned here. This is just from numerous perosnal observations over time.

In over 12 years of flying for a living, I have learned that aviation, not just GA, but the entire US airline industry, is a relatively small community. Someone you know always knows someone else who has connections. Perhaps now, or in the future, they could be in a position to further, OR torpedo, your career aspirations. No one wants to sit in an enclosed space for days on end with a complete nut job, "grade-A" tool bag. So in your dealings with your fellow pilots and fellow man, keep your inner jackass tied to a post behind the barn! :)

According to him, retired because he's eligible to do so and continuing on till 65 wouldn't be much of an improved retired income (the senior Alaska guys still have their A Fund pension).
Huh, probably didn't want to be junior to Derg when they get stapled to the bottom of SJA.

Best career advice I've ever seen after almost a decade on this website.

As someone who's actually been stapled, I don't find the humor. ;)
