Kalitta flies US evacuees back from China

Same company that decontaminated the planes after the Ebola flights. If they get decontaminated after every flight, I have no idea.

Omaha really isn't a bad city, if you can get past the fact that it seems to get as cold as Fargo to my weak Southernish blood. The rest of Nebraska, well. I'm sure they're very nice people.

I remember about 10 years ago when Omaha had that massive flood that lasted weeks. The water went right up to short final.
 
One of the passengers on the quarantined Princess cruise ship did an AMA on Reddit as the whole thing unfolded. He posted detailed time stamps of events going back from the beginning of the quarantine up until arriving in Nebraska off the Kalitta flight. It got so popular that he made Part 2 and Part 3, which he is still updating as things happen. Pretty interesting read if you have some time.

Hang around here in Nebraska long enough and one will learn we entered the Single Engine Airtanker world to fill gaps where aerial applicators haven't been a few years back 2013. Little bit of a stir back in those days , too! Hell the drones, uUAS, UAV world got the Eastern CO and almost the entire State of Nebraska in excitement mode...should have been here in the emergency management world......hell they are still callin the MD87 a VLAT!

I’d have elected to stay onboard the ship instead of facing another 14 day (???) quarantine.

That was a pretty cool read. I definitely prefer learning about current events from normal people like that. Provides a lot more insight.

Also, $4 says after all that she's pregnant.

If I somehow ended up locked in a cabin on a cruise ship parked in Asia with no windows during any kind of outbreak that started in Asia (which wouldn't happen because I'd never go on cruise without a room with a balcony, claustrophobia stinks) and I was offered the chance to get back to the US I'd jump all over it. Give me a lawn chair on a pallet in the belly of a cargo 747, just get me out of there and back home. I'd guess the 14 day quarantine is going to be enforced regardless. Get it done and move on.

Me too, but I'd not be concerned about being banned from the US for another 14 days. Although, as a question of law, I don't think they could actually do that.

If I can’t swing a balcony on a cruise, I’m not going on a cruise! Ha!

Having breakfast on my balcony with my robe on is a required part of my cruise experience.
