Junior 'new-hire' domiciles

The Bro bases are your best bet for staying West, jr bases tend to be FAT and PSP. Not too sure about the jet, a recent class had a few in SLC and DEN, I hear MSP and ORD are jr as well but maybe someone else can confirm that.

Is Skywest like other regionals in the sense that type of aircraft is random based on need? Or are new hires often staring out in the Brasilia and then moving up to CRJ?

CommutAir's IAD base will open on December 1st and you should be able to hold IAD right out of training. (Seems you live in the DC metropolitan area)

You have a one-year seat lock on your initial airplane, after which, you can bid into whatever your seniority will hold, subject to vacancies being available. They've been switching off between running CRJ/EM2 classes for new hires.

For Compass :

MSP / DTW is pretty even split for new hires

Alot of east coast commuters seem to be in DTW. And from about Chicago and westward folks seem to prefer MSP.

During new hire training you are trained in / considered MSP based until after the checkride.

Update for ExpressJet (CRJ).

All bases and seats available, except ATL CRJ7/9.

Current vacancies for new-hires:
CRJ FO ATL 79
CRJ FO IAD 9
CR7 FO DTW 5
CRJ FO DFW 12

Update for jetBlue

Looks like BOS is now the junior base on the E190. JFK for the A320, IF there are spots in your class. We had 5 spots in our class, and they went pretty senior. In the top 7, the only guys not to bid the 'Bus in JFK were me and the guy senior to me. I wanted the 190 so I could get back to MCO faster. He lives in BOS.

How much more senior is the plug JFK320 to the BOS190? Basically, JFK is junior for the Bus, but is it equally as junior as the BOS 190 or overall more senior? Clear as mud right.

Currently, the plug in JFK is about 3 or 4 slots senior to the plug in BOS on the 190. The trick is how many bus spots are going to be open in future classes. Most of the deliveries coming up are Airbus, but a lot of those slots will likely go to current crewmembers transitioning from the 190. Overall, the Bus in JFK is more senior than the 190 in either BOS or JFK. That being said, it's possible that the class on 12/5 might be ALL Airbus. For a while last year, there weren't ANY E190 positions and all new hires were going on the bus.

I see. Wow, it just seems more logical to go 190 for a couple years then move over to the Bus and in most cases a line. I guess unless of course, you had to fly an Airbus immediately.

What were the backgrounds of the folks in your class? 121, mil, 135, captain, FO?

I bid the E190, and I already have 4 guys behind me in seniority in base. Rumor is the 12/5 is going to be all E190, and both classes in January (rumored again) all E190. That (assuming half of them go to BOS) might put me either senior on reserve or junior holding a line. E190 is DEFINITELY the quicker route to holding a line. I probably won't see the bus for a while since I plan on bidding the 190 in MCO and the bus is SUPER senior down here.

As for the backgrounds, 2 Comair guys, 1 military guy, 2 ExpressJet guys, me from 9E, 1 from ASA, 1 from Compass, 1 from Air Whisky, 1 from Qatar (he never actually flew thanks to a 5 month training backlog over there, before that he was at XJ/9E) and 2 from corporate.

Right on! That'd be great to get a line that fast.

Were all those 121 guys captains?

Most were. I know one of the Comair guys was. The other was there for 12 years, so I think he was a CA at some point, but likely was downgraded to FO before the end. The XJ/9E guys was an FO, as was the Compass guy. Not 100% sure about a couple of the others, but it's seemed like jetBlue hires a mix of CAs and FOs.

Update for CHQ as well, LGA though junior, is now full... There are still vacancies in CMH, CLE, and SDF. IND and ORD are most senior...

Shuttle America:

IND, CMH are most junior
ORD, LGA are Senior (you can transfer to either withing 3-6 months depending on need)
