JS Cargo Carriers

I did a search and read through all the threads with JS info attached; but, none mentioned how you can see some sort of listing as to when and where these flights operate (if how I said what I said makes sense lol). Is there a website or application that one would use?

I usually just use flightaware.com and search city pairs. Gives me a good idea of all companies operating out on a given day.

I'll second the Jumpseatinfo.org. It has tons of info for several cargo carriers. Some cargo carriers are more difficult to list on because they operate more random charter cargo flights than a consistent schedule and figuring out routes in advance can sometimes be a hassle. I did just go jumpseating on UPS earlier this month out to HNL on the 747. Awesome experience and everyone seems to be very friendly to OAL Jumpseaters.

From my experience, the best is Atlas: http://jumpseat.atlasair.com/travel/schedule.asp
List yourself via id90.com and you should get a confirmation by email. Then you ask where meeting point is. Had great times riding JS to/from HKG/ANC on their Polar and Southern subsidiaries.

We will take you anywhere you want to go! Just can’t ride on military charters or the dreamlifter. We will even feed you....but the food is probably going to suck.

I recently looked to see if we could on the dreamlifter. Was disappointed we can’t. Are you guys able to do FAM trips on it or do you just have to do a normal 747 flight?

I’m not a dispatcher. I’m actually not sure if they can ride the LCF. If there is room, I wouldn’t see why not. That’s the issue though, it’s pretty crowded.

No one is allowed on the LCF except for operating crew or crew deadheading to operate the LCF. This is a Boeing restriction, they don't want anyone on the jet who shouldn't be there.

And the catering here is pretty decent for the most part, regardless of what the crews say... You will NOT leave the jet hungry. Just stay away from the Chinese bottled water.

Since this is at the top, anyone aware of any cargo carriers from Dublin to the US? Would save all the sifting through schedules. Thanks!

The pancakes out of HKG were a lot tastier than I thought they were gonna be.

It's an FAA restriction as well since it's in the restricted category. And because of that no one can deadhead on it either. Operating crew only of that flight only. I think the far term is something like essential flight crewmembers.

When I worked at Polar I jumpsat with one of the main LCF captains on a NRT-ANC flight (non-LCF). Seriously one of my favorite captains ever, awesome guy. I watched him hand fly in IFR all the way up to cruise altitude going up the NOPACS, and I’m not exaggerating when I say we were assigned no less than 6 altitudes on climb out (level off, manually set thrust, fly, start climb) It took abnormally long, I respect that kind of old school piloting immensely.

I asked him as a LCF pilot how much different did it fly? His response was that it’s quite similar and not really much different than other 747s, kind of like the difference from a 400 and a -8F.

So 1 that was illegal, 2 polar has never in it's existence operated the lcf and 3 yes it flies like any other 400 just louder.

You need to 1) read my post 2) learn that Polar and Atlas pilots are the same but currently Dispatchers are two separate groups so the aforementioned captain flies on both certificates and 3) stop being a know it all when you’re clearly oblivious of factual details and instead offer ignorant opinions.

You're right a current pilot has no idea how atlas/polar opperate.

If your crew there I take back my comment because you obviously know. I assumed you were some yahoo dispatcher claiming to know. Like who’s who said I wasn’t on the LCF, do they ever fly NRT-ANC? I feel like they’re domestic only but I never dispatched them and can’t remember since I was there.
