JetBlue's watch...

oh jeepers. What's in that blue kool-aid these days....

A newly hired — and then fired — JetBlue pilot is suing the budget airline claiming his training instructor showed him a saucy snapshot of himself naked and wearing only a watch, and then gave him a failing mark when the seasoned aviator rebuffed his advances.

...

On Jan. 4, 2016, Ortiz allegedly failed Peterson from the program. Peterson took his claims of sexual harassment to HR, where he was allegedly told that although Ortiz admitted to showing him picture of his penis and testicles, he was to be terminated anyway.

One side of the story in a lawsuit over being fired...always certain to contain a completely factual narrative including all of the contributing factors.
Peterson is probably a poopy pilot, and couldn't legitimately pass AQP or whatever training JB has. However when the accused admitted to the fact, and HR (May?) have done nothing about sexual harassment, that's a big story.
A two-bit hack could argue this case.

What's up with JetBlue hiring crazies? The FA who grabbed the beers and popped the slide, the Captain who flipped out, and then this guy?

JetBlue just isn't as good at keeping it quiet.

Yeah, United had that prostitution scandal come up a while ago, and there was an AA FO recently who decided to get smashed and show up for work. Seems as if there are lunatics at all shops manifesting their lunacy in all kind of ways.

I know the instructor well. Without going into detail, the trainee made an off-color joke. The instructor reciprocated. The lesson didn't go well, and the trainee threw the instructor headlong into the bus.

The trainee was weak. Very weak. He was getting fired no matter what. But he took the instructor with him. Yes, the instructor displayed bad judgement. Yes, he should've known better. We have all made off-color jokes before, and didn't get caught/turned in. I don't think the punishment fits the crime. But that's just my opinion.

Did the guy show an ickday pic at work?

Your post sure reads like the instructors behavior is excusable.

I'd say, the instructor made his bed, regardless of the performance of the new-hire.

Off color jokes are one thing, weenie pix are a whole nother level...

I didn't say excusable. I say suspend him for 30 days, and put him back to the line, plus a year of double secret probation. Being fired is very heavy handed for a joke.

Maybe I'm just too thick skinned? I see this as a stupid joke, kind of like "The Goat." If the instructor deserved to be fired, someone better get executed for doing the goat!
