jetBlue

so, are you saying this is confirmed with TWU or it still needs to be voted in? I believe they've been here before and it was eventually voted out
Still needs to be voted on. This is the first time in B6 dispatch history that an actual union vote is happening.

It will pass. Lots of misinformation going around thinking it will solve our issues and make things better, but the current leaders also aren't helping the case as they both came from AA and talk like they're already in a union shop.

they both did it to themselves. The rest of the SOC is unhappy with them as well. The blue juice river has most certainly stopped flowing in the room

Interesting, what do you think primarily led to this?

Few things. Director leaving, manager stepping down to do something else, other departments in the SOC getting raises, etc and we got nothing. The only thing we got was a change to our schedule from 4/3/4/4 to 4 on 4 off which had nothing to do with the compensation review. That could have been done by our value committee and outside of the compensation board. They only made it happen there because it made the hourly rate go up (same pay scale, no changes) so making it seem like the hourly rate was more would satisfy us. Also talks of maybe United buying us down the road or anyone else, the new Directors from AA wanting to change the SOC to Dispatch based like the other airlines and also that almost every other airline has a union anyways.

Just be aware, they’re brining in TWU to represent them. Vote is scheduled next month.
good bout time. PAFCA would be better but any union rep is needed. we all saw how swa managed to get what they needed with TWU so hope the same comes for ya'll

SWA, Alaska, and UPS are three majors that have TWU. They have some of the best contracts in the industry. But yes, at the end of the day any representation is better than none. That’s what the majority of the group realizes.

You failed to include that all of them are profitable. Ask the Spirit dispatchers how that’s been going.

I for one am going to miss my PTO.

You’re way off if you think any union makes the workplace better and it shows you’ve more than likely never worked with one as well. SWA, Alaska, and UPS thrive on profit, not a union.

I wonder what the vibe is like on the floor. Is it better with or without. Would an increase in pay be a guarantee? Is it best to keep trusting company or has that relationship gone completely down the drain

It's mixed. Strong feelings to having a union and not having a union. For the union some examples: possible mergers, having a voice for pay increases, if the FAA goes after us, having procedures/rules black and white, the uncertainty of the integration with Dispatch and the System Controllers (seniority overlap, needing to get cross trained) Against: company had no money that they could have given us in the summer (one reason many want), if we go to get a contract it can take up to 3 years which would overlap the next 2027 review board meeting so we would miss out on pay at that time, paying dues for nothing, it would give the company concrete reasons to lay off since procedures are black and white.

off the top of my head

Anecdotally, more are for it than against it at this point. Mainly for certain protections and the dwindling trust in our new management.

My personal take on it all is I’m ok with minimal or no actual pay raise as long as we keep certain parts of our current employee agreement (PTO for example). I’m realistic and I know JetBlue is not currently profitable. I don’t believe the majority of dispatchers expect to get a huge pay raise out of this. This is about having something solid in the form of a CBA with industry standard (or better) protections and actually having a voice at the table rather than just hoping they do right by us.
